Talk to me about Le Bernardin
Not really a Food post, just if it's "worth it" to go for my 30th b-day.
I told DH it was up to him to surprise me with a restaurant for my birthday, somewhere we have never been, but I'm afraid we'll end up at Checkers or something nutty like that because he got so overwhelmed with making a decision.
FYI I am a total foodie and DH thinks Chef Boyardee is gourmet......

very fancy..a bit stuffy.
I would opt for Per Se if I was going that route.

I'll check it out, thanks! My curiosity was piqued because I just finished Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential and he raves about Le Bernardin and Veritas, but Scott Bryan isn't the chef at Veritas anymore.......

Friends of ours went there and raved about it!
For my birthday this year, we switched it up a bit (we always go to the same restaurant), and DH took me to the Russian Tea Room. I had always wanted to go there, but was a bit apprehensive because I think of it as a very touristy place. We were both pleasntly surprised. The service was out of this world and food was amazing! To my surprise there were alot of regulars there it seemed. Not to mention it's a beautiful restaurant.

Re: Talk to me about Le Bernardin
We ate here for our joint graduations and while it was $$, it was DELISH. It actually didn't look that way when we went..it was prettier than that pic. Another place to think about is Danube downtown..our friend was a chef there and it was delicious..we also ate there a couple of times. What is your favorite kind of food? Maybe it will help people suggest-are you set on French? Enjoy your birthday and dinner no matter where you go!
