New and BFP
My DH and I weren't trying, but we weren't being safe either. ..lol. I have been off the pill for a year and half. I am trying to figure out how many weeks I am, maybe you can help me. The first day of my last period was June 18th. I think I know when I conceived too....
Do I count the weeks from the day we think we conceived or the first day of my last period? Also, I have my first Dr. appt. on Tuesday. What should I expect? Will I get a sono? I am excited but nervous at the same time. I wasn't going to tell anyone or announce it online until 3 months, but the anticipation is killing me and I have so many questions.....

everywhere you go they will count the 1st day of your last period...so that would make you about five weeks pregnant, assuming your cycles were average length (28 days or so.)
every dr is different but at 5 weeks they won't do a sono bc they won't be able to see much. perhaps just a blood test to confirm, but again, every dr. is different.
babycenter.com is great for articles and information, i swear by it! good luck and CONGRATS!!

Congrats!!!! - You have to go by the first day of your last period which would mean you're about 5 weeks - You will probably get a sono on Tuesday - but it is really early so you may not see too much - maybe just a sac.
I am about 6 weeks pg and I had my first doc's apt last Friday and all I saw was a tiny speck in the sac. (but it is still very exciting!!)

Welcome and Congrats!
Like OP said, sounds like you are around 5 weeks...when you go for your first appt, they will probs draw blood and get a sono. You will most likely only see a sac, so don't freak out when you don't see anything in it!
They will get a family history of you and DH and you will fill out paperwork on genetic testing, etc.
I was in the same boat as you back in January...weren't trying, yet here we are 8 weeks away from having a baby!
These ladies have been super helpful and Babycenter.com has been a great resource as well!

Congratulations! Right now, your EDD will be based on your LMP, but your first sono will give the doctor a better idea as to how far along you are. Most doctors won't do a sono until you're at least 8 weeks. I basically had an annual exam at my first appointment and was sent for bloodwork, but every doctor is different.
