Planet Fitness-Anyone Belong?
Does anyone belong to this gym or know anything about the new one in Hicksville? Their prices seem great but I haven't got a chance to visit yet and was wondering if anyone had any info about this place (good/bad). Thanks so much!!

Re: Planet Fitness-Anyone Belong?
DH belongs to the one in Bayshore. It's ok. Very basic. Lots of treadmills and ellipticals. Two of each weight machine, but not a huge selection (only one type of shoulder machine, quad machine, etc.). VERY small and very exposed free weight/stretching/stability ball area with no exercise mats - a big deal for me because I spend 30 minutes or so doing free weights, pushups, etc. and it's very uncomfortable there. Also no classes or personal trainers. And because it's so cheap, it's full of high school students who sit on a machine for 5 minutes at a time, text messaging.
BUT... it's CHEAP. And everything works, and it's clean. Also, DH has the $20 a month plan so he can bring a guest with him every time he goes if he wants, and sometimes I'll go with him to motivate him to go more (I belong to a very nice other gym). So if you just want a place to do some cardio and basic weight stuff, it would be fine. If you want a place to do your own thing (Pilates, crunches, bridges, free weigths, etc.), classes, or personal trainers, I'd look elsewhere.

ITA with the above poster. I am a member of Planet Fitness and feel like while the price is amazing, it is missing a few things. While I rarely did classes at my old gym, I loved the option of taking them. Other than that, the gym is pretty status quo.

Re: Planet Fitness-Anyone Belong?
My DH belongs to the one by us. He's happy with it but, he doesn't work a normal 9-5 type job so he can go easily during off peak hours.

Re: Planet Fitness-Anyone Belong?
I belong to the one in Carle Place and I love it. Carle place is one of the larger locations. I know the one in Hicksville is where Women's Domain once was and it wasn't that large of a space. I'd check it out before possibly buying a package online

Re: Planet Fitness-Anyone Belong?
I dont but a friend does and she hates it. For reasons stated in some replies main one too many "kids" hanging out, I guess you get that because its so cheap. She also hates that people dont wipe their dripped sweat off stuff (I really dont know gym ettiq.)
She pays $10/month at Bayshore. Not my scene, I have to have classes.
