What am I doing wrong?
I finally got into a good exercise routine and I have not lost any weight and I don't even feel like its making a difference. All of my clothes fit the same.
I cut my calories to 1500 a day. I exercise 30 minutes on the treadmill every day, a combination of speed walking and jogging. Every other day I do weights.
I'm getting really frustrated. I'm busting my @ss every day and nothing is happening! My goal is to lose all of the weight by my son's 1st birthday (in February) and I don't see how its going to happen.

I'm sorry...it can be so frustrating. How did you change your diet? What are you eating?

Re: What am I doing wrong?
You are def building muscle so that is a reason the scale isnt moving but your clothes should becoming a little loose.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
It could be that you're not eating enough, believe it or not, or you could be eating too much processed foods. The pp is right, though. If you are exercising regularly, your clothes should be fitting looser.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
to add- it took me about 2 or 3 weeks to start feeling a difference in my clothing
and then it was drastic how lose everything got on me
I run, outside close to 20 miles a week
couple of things might be happening here
1- you are eating more then you realize
2- your work outs aren't enough- are you sore? dripping with sweat?
30 minutes on the treadmill might not be enough- it's not enough for me personally- I need atleast 45 minutes to 1 hour of cardio 4 to 5 times a week

Re: What am I doing wrong?
I eat pretty healthy foods. Lunch is usually hummus w/veggies. I drink only water, no soda. No fried or fast foods. I keep a food log so I know exactly what I eat and how much of it.
I'm not sore after my workouts but I do sweat a lot and try to push myself as hard as I can.
I breastfeed my DS and that alone should burn 500 calories a day. I dstarted this workout routine 3 weeks ago. Before that I stuck to the 1500 calories and walked about 1 mile everyday.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
I agree with PP. Try ramping up your cardio. It could just be your body is taking a bit longer to "get in gear" and the weight will start dropping off soon. That has happened to me before where I start something and it takes 3 weeks or so for me to really see any type of change. If it doesn't work, maybe see a nutritionist to make sure you are getting enough calories in. If you're not, your metabolism will slow down and make it harder to lose.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
i have never been so frustrated with my weight in my life. I think the breastfeeding threw my body for a loop.
2 months after weaning, I am still making milk.
I honestly can't obsess anymore over it.
I am hoping that one day soon, something in me just clicks.
All my working out, I am very strong, I am able to run...but I am still sooooo heavy. Still a size 10.
My dad wants me to give my body a break, just walk for the month and see what happens.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
You also have to let your body rest to recover. I was overtraining and it's a common mistake. I would try to up the jogging, but only exercise 4-5x a week.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
do you write down everything you eat? keeping a journal could help you figure out how to switch things up.
you could be not eating enough or over exercising.
have your thought about joining Weight Watchers? i found it amazingly helpful when nothing i tried on my own helped. i also worked w/ a personal trainer at the gym to teach me how to work out properly.

Re: What am I doing wrong?
it could be WHEN you are eating. You should really only eat simple carbs right before or right after a workout if you want them burning up - otherwise they break down quickly and go straight where we don't want them to go.
fiber fiber fiber!
also I would up your workouts - 1 mile (walking or jogging) is only about 100 calories. it would take you 35 days to lose one pound!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
It's not so much about WHAT you are doing, but about the INTENSITY of what you are doing. Maybe the exercises you are doing aren't making your body work hard enough.
Sweat isn't always the best way to determine how hard you are working. When you are doing your strength training, you should be out of breath and you should feel your heart rate increase, most people don't lift enough to this, and so they don't see changes as they hope to.
Also make sure you are eating enough to fuel your body for workouts. If you're not getting enough carbs and protein your body will going into conservation mode and not want to burn calories.
If everything is in place, just give it some more time, be consistent and you'll get there.
Good luck!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
if you are BF and burning 500 calories a day with that, and only eating 1500, it's like you're only eating 1000 calories a day which is way too low. you might want to up your calories a bit.
good luck!

Re: What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the advice everyone! I did 50 minutes of cardio today so hopefully in a week I'll see some changes.
