whats the simplest not too radical diet out there?

I just don't have the time to prepare fancy foods etc so I need some kind of a diet that is easy to shop/cook for. I'm not looking to do anything too radical. I just need some guidelines to help me loose the weight!

I personally like to go low-carb (south beach or atkins)- but I would bet the most popular response will be weight watchers.

Weight Watchers! I've tried others and this is the one that I don't feel like I'm starving on. You can also squeeze something naughty in with your extra points and still lose weight.

I lost 20lbs since May. It may of been slow but I am keeping it off.

I cut down everything I eat.

I dont snack like I use to. I try not to eat dessert at night.

I try to eat healthy foods.

I cut out Pizza and also fast food.

I also walk 2 to 2.5 miles 5 or 6 days a week.

Sample day of eating:
2 slices toast with margarine
Banana
Activia yogurt

Boars head chicken breast on pumpernickel bread

some type of protien
Veggies
Potato or yam

I try not to eat dessert. I drink maybe 1 diet soda a day or every other day.

I drink a lot of water and decaf tea.

I like WW because there are no restrictions as long as you stay within your points.

Instead of a diet, try some easy stuff:

Do you exercise? If not, definitely start. Even if it's parking your car far away from the store or taking your pet/child for a long walk so you get some exercising in.

Do you drink soda or anything other than water during the day? If you do, cut that out. ONLY drink water.

Bake/grill food instead of frying.

Get a side of veggies instead of fries, rice, etc.

Don't eat fast food.

If you eat a salad, no heavy dressings... stick to oil and vinegar.

If you have to have dessert at night (like me) get the skinny cow ice cream or something low fat/fat-free.

When you make dinner serve yourself a smallish portion and before you eat put the rest in a tupperware in the fridge so you won't go for seconds. Eat slow.

i've done WW and was very successful. i tried to start again not too long ago and didn't do great. my trainer put me on a new diet and this is week one so we'll see but it's basically eaxt small snacks in between meals like fruits and then no/low carbs after 4pm (cut out grains and fruits.)

I like WW too. However you should really try and work alot of fruit and veggies in. SOme tend to get lazy and eat empy calorie snacks that taste good but dont fill you up (and you use alot of points on them).

I also like soutbeach alot but felt I was spending alot of money and prep on phase 1 (the first 2 weeks)! But it forces you to eat good.

I pretty much do all of those things, except exercise right now. I have always been athletic but haven't really done anything since having DD in May. I am also going to PT now for my knee so that limits what I'm allowed to do :(

i think that the easiest thing to do is to concentrate on adding more vegetables and fruit to your diet.

make a point to eat two different types of veggies at lunch and dinner. eat fruit for something sweet.

it's really the best change to make to your diet and the focus is on adding to your diet and not what you can't have

and camacho's tips are great too

Weight watchers!
You can eat normal foods but it gives you guidelines about how much you should be eating.
Counting points can be tough the first week or two but you quickly learn how many points your favorite foods are.
I highly recommend it Chat Icon
