BTDT Moms who Circumcised
Do you know what method was used?
Gomco or Plasti Bell?
Did your doctor give you a reason for using one method over the other?

My doctor used Plasti Bell. He did not mention why he used this method.

on OB was gonna do the plastibell, the other OB just cut him....personal preference for them.

Plasti Bell. The OB said it was because you(the parent) didn't have do anything to take care of it.

We had the bell and it was super easy- no care involved!! Although I will say it looked pretty gross, but I think it looks gross either way

I have no idea that there are different methods, let alone which one my Dr used!  
I guess my Dr did a good job as my Dr complimented my son's circumcision and my OB who did it, and said "That is the most beautiful circumcision I have ever seen!"

I'm pretty sure we had the Plasti Bell. We never had to care for it at all.

Same here. I have no idea which one was used for either of my boys. They also both healed nicely.

There are 3 different methods I believe but only two are really used in the US.
I have been reading about both since our pediatrician will use whatever method we want if we have a preference should we choose to circumcise.
A few of my friends had awful experiences with the Gomco method and suggested that Plasti Bell if we do circumcise so I'm just exploring all the options and looking for feedback.

I knew nothing about it and I was dumbfounded when they asked me which way I wanted it done, right before they did it.
I can't remember what they did the first time. (We had to have it done twice). The second time they used the Plasti Bell and it was fine.

i have no idea. it turned out perfectly though. just had to put some vaseline on gauze to protect it from the diaper. nothing major.

I had never heard of anyone having to do it twice, but I never payed much attention before. The Dr. that did it the first time was fairly new and didn't have much experience. Lucky Charlie

The Plastibell Circumcision Device is a clear plastic ring the falls off naturally on its own when it heals. You leave it alone untill it falls off.

It shouldn't need to be done twice, but sometimes they don't cut enough skin off or the skin adheres again. Now if they don't cut enough off sometimes the child will grow into it and it will be fine too.
To prevent adhesions you would need to retract all the way with each cleaning I believe (not 100% because DS isn't circumcised).
