Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
I ran before I was preggo about 3 times a week. I was still running and kickboxing in my first few weeks, and then I got TIRED!!!
I have started to get my energy back.. and started jogging again.. much lighter than before, but jogging.. why do I think it is going to hurt the baby? Is it okay? I keep my heart rate down, drink water, and I try to not get overheated... does anyone else run?

Re: Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
I love to run and always did before becoming pregnant...
Now I do not....it makes my heart rate go up and I don't think that movement is best for the baby...
Your heart rate should be no more than 140 which is very easy to reach when running/jogging....

Re: Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
I was still jogging up until about 18 weeks....then it became uncomfortable and I started getting crampy, so now I just do a brisk walk 5x a week, instead of jogging 3x a week.
It's certainly not advisable to do any running or jogging without talking to your doctor first though!!! It really depends on what kind of shape you, your heart, and your abs were in prior to getting pregnant. My doc said it would be fine until I got uncomfortable (and he also told me I would "know" when it was uncomfortable---and he was right). I knew the exact day I had to stop and I did.
But, definitely ask your doc first!!!

Re: Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
Thanks girls.. in regards to asking my doctor, i did ask her in the beginning and she said that running and even kickboxing were okay until I felt uncomfortable or if I have any complications.. and I havent had either.. I just cant help but think its shaking the baby too much!!! Maybe ill do the brisk walk as much as I can....

Re: Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
Just listen to your body.. I jogged about 3 x a week (2-4 miles)up until about 30 weeks (I'm now 33 weeks) now I'm just doing the elliptical and walking and it feels fine..
At about 23 weeks when I started feeling like my belly was moving as I ran, I bought this great band that fastened underneath my belly and kept it from bouncing around ..I got it at Motherhood Maternity..it definitely helped

Re: Anyone "run" or jog during pregnancy?
I continued running until about 5 mos. I was out on a run and began getting cramping. Obviously I stopped and went straight home, layed down and drank a ton of water...the cramping went away. I thought maybe it was from the heat/dehydration (it was about 80 degrees out), but then on another day I was out on a run the same thing happened so I called my Dr!
Doc said to just lay off until after the baby and then I can go back to running...he said it was my body's way of telling me to slow down and take it easy...and I had no problems agreeing to that given that the health of my baby is the most important thing.
I can't wait to get back to it though...I miss running so much!
Anyway, that being said - as long as you're not having any issues you can continue whatever exercise routine you had before....just listen to your body!!!

My Dr. said I could do anything as long as I was comfortable .........- (I also think it's farily obvious I'm not working out hardcore 7 days a week!! )

I would ask your Dr. But I have a friend that ran a 5k at 5 months pregnant, and she just had a perfectly healthy baby!
