How do you get past a plateau?

I know, I know - I should stop looking at the scale, but it hasn't budged - even with all the runing I'm doing.

I am planning on incorporating more weight training...

I eat well, so what gives?

Re: How do you get past a plateau?

I'm at the same place and I still have a good 20 pounds to lose. It is so frustrating to work so hard and not see the numbers move. I don't even stand on a scale anymore it upsets me too much. My clothes are getting bigger and clothes that didn't fit do fit now so either my scale hates me or I am building muscle.

A trainer at the gym told me to lift lighter weights and do more reps to maintain the muscle I have now but to not build anymore. I knew that already but it was good to hear it from a "expert".

I'm sorry I'm no help but I do feel your pain.

Re: How do you get past a plateau?

you're a runner, so you do cardio-that's good! what about varying the type of cardio you're doing?
incorporating the strength training will be good.

how about varying the foods you are eating more?

Re: How do you get past a plateau?

do you need to rest? You have to give your body time for the workouts to do their work. How many days a week do you work out? 4 days is more than enough.

More than that. I suffered from adrenal burnout 5 years ago and had to stop doing everything because of it. I don't think this is what it is, but it's always on my radar....

Re: How do you get past a plateau?

Are you sure it's a plateau? Maybe you are losing inches right now and not weight on the scale. Have you been measuring your inches or body fat percentage?

I was waiting for someone to ask me this and make me feel like a dolt Chat Icon My jeans are all loose on me, so I know I am focusing too much on the scale. It's so stupid, I know, but there are certain numbers I don't like seeing on the scale....

Liza I am going to smack you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You're doing awesome, just keep it up and that number will change eventually. If you are doing everything right you just need some patience...give it time Chat Icon Focus on how you are buildling muscle and will be getting leaner and looking better in those clothes. A number is just that. Keep up the great work!
