In your cycle days...is day 1 the first day of AF or is it the first day after you finish?

Why do woment temp? also, do they do it orally or vaginally?

You can temp orally or vaginally. However, I think most people are more comfortable with oral temping...(i know i am lol).
The reason temping is important is because after you ovulate, your body is secreting progesterone. Progesterone is the hormone that allows the body to sustain a pregnancy. Progesterone heats up the body, and therefore, your temps shift to a higher phase after ovulation.

Don't feel silly, I had the same questions when I first started.
A great book to read is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. After reading that, things will start to make sense.
