Has anyone taken a Photography class?

Where did you take the class?
Did you learn a lot?
and What Camera would you need?

I would love to get better at taking Pictures and learn how to handle a Camera better.

Thanks for the help

I'd like to know too.

I've looked at my library and the local school districts adult ed. courses but came up with nothing.

Re: Has anyone taken a Photography class?

I took photography on an off thru college. My first camera was a Pentax SLR...an old model but still takes amazing pictures. I learned how to shoot and develop, angles, lighting, basically lots of beginner courses.

Now I still use my trusty Pentax, but I also have a Nikon CoolPix, a Nikon D40x, and a Canon Rebel XS.

Most of my classes were very organic and not overly concerned with technical aspects. My professors were more intersted in what we shot and how we shot it...we'd have great assignments to photograph certain emotions, feelings, etc. It was so much fun. I spend so much time outside, driving around and taking pictures.

I have taken some private lessons...if you check craigs list there are a lot of people who offer them fairly inexpensively.

Try some scrapbooking stores. I've taken a couple at YHP in NP.

Do you think that you have to live in the Town to take the class?

I just love taking pictures...and I just want to be taught about lighting and picture taking skills.

I am going to take a 2-day class in NYC through Nikon's school. They have a class coming up in 2 weeks, but I am going to wait a bit and take the class in March.
