Yesterday afternoon, the sub teachers assistant forgot to lock up the classroom and left the door wide open. Low and behold, the little brat got a hold of my DH cell phone with all of his contacts in it , our home number , relatives phone #'s , pics, etc. We cancelled the phone right away, but the contact list was still there, until the battery died out. Always make sure your cell is on you, even if the desk has a lock- DH works in a bad neighborhood in NYC and the kid knew how to open the lock- The phone was found , the kid hiid it in the room in a pile of papers and was going to take it at 3 PM. Scary thing is the kid is only 8 yrs old! Make copies of all your contacts,. Because of this we unlisted our home number, all the kid had to do was google our home number and up would have popped our address , etc. Lesson learned. Please be careful at work with your cell phones etc.

My cell phone was stolen 2 years ago out of my desk. Luckily nothing ever happened with the numbers but I was so angry and disappointed in my students. I teach HS.

At my school a teacher's cell phone was stolen right out of her work bag by a kid during the class, while the teacher was busy helping another kid in the back of the room. Luckily the AP of Security came and wouldn't let anyone leave the room until the phone was recovered, but what if the teacher hadn't noticed?? The kid would've gotten away with it It's true we have to be so careful all the time, can't trust anybody.

I don't even bring my phone or wallet in to work- I leave them locked in my car.

mine was stolen about 5 years ago when i taught KINDERGARTEN!!!! nice right? it was probably a parent.
