Insurance - out of pocked people for IVF
FYI - Just wanted to tell anyone that does not have IVF coverage but has out-of-network services, that I have now gotten back on my IVF cycle $3,600 (and I expect about $800 more to come in). So, if you can, try to get your RE to give you detailed billing, and put it through. I didn't think I would get anything back. I didn't on my first 2 IVF cycles with an RE that was actually in my network. Hmmmm.... And if your RE is in network and they cut a check to them for the claim you submit, your RE is responsible for reimbursing you for any money you gave them for that claim (minus any co-pays). And if they don't your Insurance will handle them after 30 days of them not reimbursing you from the date they receive a check.
FYI - the types of things they are covering are all the blood work and U/S throughout the cycle and for Cornell people the hospital is in my network so I got that money back less my ambulatory co-pay.

Re: Insurance - out of pocked people for IVF
This is an interesting post. My insurance company also paid my RE $3750 + meds. I paid them up front. My RE's office told me today they are not giving me that money because first they want to verify with my insurance company that they were not paid in "error." So basically they want to give the money back to the insurance company. They don't care - they were already paid. My insurance company also paid for u/s + b/w and some other stuff. To say the least I am LIVID!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what to do.

They need to give you a date of resolution. You can threaten them with legal action. It's your money. They can't double dip.

RMA did the same thing. I should have gotten money back from them but when they got the check they returned it. Obvioulsy they want our money b/c we pay full price. Something should be done. Cornell was the place that helped me get my money back. They actually fill the claim forms out for you. Mail then to you and you make a copy and mail it in. You don't even have to fill them out.
I wish I would have tried to arrange my financing at RMA where I just pay for ER and ET and put all the other stuff that is covered in.
