Re: Vaction Question

do you mean like your company closes for the holdays and you do not get paid? Or you are taking time off that is unpaid?

Re: Vaction Question

Right now since I dont have a mortgage or pay a set rent, I would say yes.

However, in any other situation I would be too worried to truly enjoy myself so no!

But I would try and make the best of it!

I'm talking about a person I know. She keeps bragging about being on vacation, even though her employer is not paying for this time off. Basically, she works in a school and the school is closed. She isn't a full-time employee and only gets paid for the time she works.

hmmm...in that situation - I think that it is a vacation. It's a break from going to work...the kids have off...don't get paid...but call it a vacation.

It's nice to not work - paid or unpaid.

No, that's "Time off without pay".

That's the same as saying I have a vacation every weekend..... Chat Icon

Re: Vaction Question

yes but i consider it a forced vacation. my office closes for a week in July. for the newbies who don't have vacation time it is without pay.

If she would be working if the school is open then yes I consider it a vacation.

technically, yes, imo, it's time away from work. but if you're not getting paid for it, then its stressful (at least it would be for me) and then its definately not a holiday!!!!

Re: Vaction Question

I think it is. Unfortunately nowadays many of us don't have access to a lot of paid days off. I am home now on maternity leave and I definitely look at it as "vacation" from work, however, it is frustrating that I am not going to get paid after a certain amount of time.
