REALLY WEIRD REACTIONS TO THE NEWS
OK, so I was totally NOT expecting the crazy reactions to twins... Mind you, we've only told our families so far, and I've told some co-workers I'm close to since they are wondering why I'm in the bathroom all day ... but, has anyone else got some strange reactions to the news that they are pregnant with twins?
Most people are so happy and excited but every once in a while there is this odd comment. Like my sister-in-law! According to my MIL, when my SIL heard we are pregnant with twins, SIL said "OMG, what are they going to DO with TWO babies!??"
To me (and almost everyone we've told), the twins are SUCH a blessing and we could not possibly be more thrilled, so the negative response totally takes me off guard. Although, SIL was not able to have children of her ownunfortunately so maybe her comment stemmed from that sadness she has within herself and I should be more understanding? Anyway, I've heard from some other moms of multiples that they got some "mixed" reactions. Anyone else experience this?

Oh, be prepared. M-O-M's during pregnancy and especially during the babies' first year, hear all sorts of comments.

Re: REALLY WEIRD REACTIONS TO THE NEWS
Yup what everyone else said. I got some weird comments and some very nice ones. My boys are two now and they still get stared at because they look so much alike. I think of it more that twins fascinate people (as they do me) so that is the reason for it.
I find myself looking at twins and triplets that i see while out shopping.

YES!!!! It is unreal!! I get a lot of negative reactions like, "OMG!! I couldn't even handle one" or "You better catch up on your sleep now" I am so happy, but getting more scared because of all of these comments..it's really frustrating!!

Re: REALLY WEIRD REACTIONS TO THE NEWS
Hi,
I am new to the site. I just found out I am pregnant with Triplets. I am getting the same kinds of comments and it is adding to my fear. I am getting" well, I was worried about you getting prgenant with twins, now triplets, what are you going to do? Does the doctor think you should elinimate one, because if he does, then I would take his advice. This coming from a "catholic woman". I have a 14 month old son. I know this is not going to be easy and I keep blaming myself because the doctor (when we went to do IVF) was ready to implant two, and I asked for three (the chances were less than 8%) because this was our last shot at IVF. I just feel so overwhlemed. So much...I am scared to death.

Congratulations to you! People are not very used to multiples so I think they just don't know how to react. I'm sure you have been through a lot trying to get pregnant and going through IVF, so try to ignore them and concentrate on how blessed you are.

Re: REALLY WEIRD REACTIONS TO THE NEWS
I heard it, I even heard it from a best friend-she simply started hysterically laughing dead in my face. I still hear it...my response? Lord...please me with two right now...no joke...I would take another set in a heartbeat. My sil sister had quadruplets...imagine those remarks?
people are ridiculous-I have singletons and twins and every baby is amazing but the bonds with twins is surreal and magical and something they just don't get!
congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Don't blame yourself...what is meant to be is to be.
There was a woman that gave birth to triplets with a toddler in my gymboree class. She appeared to be doing very well and was out and about with all of them.
The first months are hard with any baby. It's challenging and will test you but you will get through it and will always have something that most don't...3 children that shared a womb and will always share a birthday!
