Has anyone been sick yet this winter?
So I got a flu shot. I usually get one every year, and for the past several years, I'd barely even get a cold. This year however, I did not escape. I got a stomach virus, something I haven't had for like 10 years. It was so bad I had to go to the ER! My husband got it first. He bounced back from it in 2 days. I was not so fortunate. Then I found out several people on my job had it with the exact same symptoms (basically your stomach turning inside out from both ends). Apparently this thing is making the rounds.
Anyone else had it? It is HORRIBLE.

Yep...I was sick starting in September with sinus infections, bronchitis, really bad colds and the finally...mono This has been the worst year for getting sick!

I dont think many people know that.
I was sick twice this winter. Both times with a cold ( no fever ) and this time it resulted in a sinus infection.
You have NO IDEA how many say "Oh but you got your flu shot right?" All knowingly like THEY know that it not only didnt PREVENT the sickness but it CAUSED what I was experiencing! It is so annoying.

I didn't realize people didn't know that.... Not only does the flu shot ONLY protect against the flu, it only protects against a single strain of the flu... so you could conceiveably STILL get the flu even with a shot. (Lowers your chances for getting the flu, but doesn't eliminate them...)

I haven't. But DH is sick right now. The 1st yr in 4 that he didn't get his flu shot and he gets sick.
He's miserable right now.
ETS: I did know the flu shot only protects you against the flu. You can still catch a cold. I told DH this the last 4 yrs. And he didn't believe me. It just happens that he didn't get his shot this year and happen to get a cold.
So he STILL doesn't believe me!

I had that horrible stomach virus. I haven't had one in years, maybe since I was 19 or so. DH had it too, and so has almost everyone else I know.

I feel like i can not shake this cold. I had it worst right after christmas through new years. Now it is just phlem and coughing

It amazes me the amount of ignorance when it comes to this.
It's called the FLU shot for a reason.
Not the amazing, cure all, keep you from getting every illness on the face of the planet including a hangover shot!
It also aggrevates me how people think antibiotics are a cure for a virus. Hence why all these super bugs are emerging from the misuse of these drugs.

Yup!
I was sick with a 24hr bug. And then just after Christmas and into New Year's I had the worst cold/flu I've ever had... fever, ear infections, you name it.
I'm finally starting to feel human again.

Not yet (fingers crossed). Anytime I start to feel something I start downing Airborne. DH has been sick twice. (Knocking on wood.)

Airborne is my MIRACLE! I love that stuff.
Felt the beginnings of something this weekend- downed it like crazy- I'm fine now...

i have to say (knock on wood) that I rarely get sick - never got the flu (also have gotten the flu shot for 24 years and swear by it) - but I got that stomach virus this weekend -I am still not fully recovered. That kicked my butt. My DS also got it. My whole entire extended family got it also with a couple of the babies having to go to the hospital.

I had a very bad sinus , double ear, and upper resp. infection that lasted over a week. and right now dd has it.  i hate when she does not feel good. the good thing is she is not as bad as i was.

Yes - lots of people are getting it or had it already. I thought we were safe b/c most people got it around christmas.
