Jon and Kate + 8
Did anyone else see the episode (I know it was a rerun but it was my first time) that she got pg with those 6 babies with an IUI?
I nearly shite myself thinking of how many IUIs I've had and her getting pg with 6 babies!!!

Re: Jon and Kate + 8
My FAVE show!!! I saw the one you're talking about when they found out they were preg with six. She said they looked at the screen and the RE just kept lettering the babies A, B, C, D, E, F, G. By the time the doc got to letter D she said she was hysterical. They were originally preg with 7. Kate also said before the IUI the doctor told her she had 3 possibly 4 follicles which he assured her was perfect for an IUI. Dont know how that could have been though....do you guys thnk there were follies the doc didnt see?

You see, I didn't see this one...I saw it on one of those "all you want to know about them" episodes and they just answered a question from a viewer as to what type of IF treatment she had getting pg with the babies. I didn't have any idea that it was originally 7. Jon must have super sperm getting all those follicles, right??
There must have been more follies the doc didn't see, or more matured with the trigger that the doc thought wouldn't mature, KWIM?

I'm a Jon & Kate Plus 8 junkie
You're right Lauren - there had to have been either follies the RE didnt see or ones that matured faster with the shot

Re: Jon and Kate + 8
I thought the doc said there were several but decided to go ahead with the IUI anyway..or they wanted to continue and the doc allowed it.
I know i've heard that version somewhere...

Am I the only one that is bothered by that? For some reason, it really bothers me that the Dr. would agree to go ahead with doing an IUI if there were so many follicles. G-d bless her that she was able to carry 6 babies and deliver healthy children, but IMO, that is just so risky and I myself couldn't take that risk!

First of all, I cannot believe you are due in 12 days!!!!
Secondly, I totally agree with you. If she didn't have egg issues (like I do) and she had 6 follicles, I think it was insane of her doctor to let her do an IUI and not either cancel the cycle or convert her to an IVF. I'm wondering how his/her practice has been affected, if at all, by this. Interesting.

Re: Jon and Kate + 8
Lauren - I know... I can't believe how fast this time went... it's actually 11 days now, I have to update!!!
I'm not entirely familiar with the show. What were their fertility issues? I would think that if the issue was with Jon, then okay, I can somewhat see the Dr. not being too concerned with the amount of follies, as it would give more targets for the sperm to hit. Which is why I know when doing IUI w/MF, RE's would recommend doing injectibles.
But if the issue wasn't MF, then IMO, it was not very responsible of the Dr. to go ahead with the IUI. Couldn't they have just converted to IVF that cycle?
Also, didn't she end up in the hosptial due to OHSS and that's when they found out she had 6 babies?

Re: Jon and Kate + 8
Im currently reading the book. The doctor told her that she had was going to drop 4 eggs.
She did an IUI and yes she did wind up in the hospital with OHSS.

Kate has PCOS, Jon has no issues. I always find it hard to believe they didn't see that many follies, but everyone's situation is different.

Love that show too! I had heard a rumor a while back that the dr saw that she had so many follicles and cancelled the cycle. She supposedly triggered and BD'd on her own. I also heard that the dr was not happy that she was making it seem like he did an IUI under those circumstances. I wonder what the truth is...
