nekkid

I had a nursing bra and they needed it removed...normally they will cut it but the nurse was great at maneuvering the wires and even took one out (replaced immediately) to save my bra.

Re: Can you wear a bra in L&D?

Each time I've been to L&D so far, I've had to be naked underneath. I have to assume its the same during delivery.

naked.

in my experience there was ZERO room for comfort or modesty in the labor experience. people were just barging in and out and i feel like EVERYONE saw my hooha at one point or another. Chat Icon

Re: Can you wear a bra in L&D?

When I was in L&D the few times, I wore a bra. When I went in for the c-sec they told me to take it off because it could get in the way of the epidural.

you got that right!! but once you are in the middle of labor - you could give a CRAP who walks in that room if they are able to get that baby out!

Naked. Honestly, when you are at the point of being in hard labor, you are gonna give a rat's a$$ who sees what.

I think at one point, I had about 7 people in the room and I don't think that included my sister and DH.

Flame away, but giving birth is not about looking cute ;).

My hospital had me get naked under gown.. except i was able to wear socks. Chat Icon

eta: i agree with AP.. your not going to care when you in the middle of delivering. The L&D had my vaj vaj facing the door.. me spread eagle and people sticking their head in.. to ask the doctors questions... At the point of all the pain.. I couldnt care less who saw my bare butt.

i'm gonna disagree - i was definitely embarrassed and self-conscious even during the worst of it... BUT there was not a thing in the world i could do about it, and i DEFINITELY wanted the kid OUT! so i just went with it and took it as yet another yucky aspect of pregnancy! Chat Icon

I had my bra on in L&D, it all happened really fast, but I know I kept it on.

I never thought I would be OK with being all exposted, but during labor you won't even think twice!

i was induced at winthrop and they asked me if i wanted to keep anything on, i kept on a nursing tank top underneath..the only time they said theyd make me take it off was in case of a c section;..

by the way, i ALWAYS cared who sees what..im not body conscious, but i dont like to be seen in um compromising positions lol...

I have to agree, I was embarrassed even while I was pushing - which is probably why I did not do a very good job of pushingChat Icon Chat Icon

I don't really mind if people see my va-jay-jay.... but I am physically more comfortable when my boobs aren't flopping around.

If you don't have an epidural, can you wear a bra?

I delivered at Huntington hospital and I wore a nursing bra. No one said anything at all, I didn't ask and they didn't tell me to take it off. In all honesty, I did feel better with it on, it gave me a sense of security.

I had a c-section, and was not allowed to wear a bra for the first day. It didn't matter much, since I couldn't get out of bed anyway... Chat Icon

I will totally agree with the whole "modesty going out the window" thing. There's nothing more pleasant than when the nurse comes in to push on your uterus to help the lining come out...and you're just hanging out all over... Chat Icon

LOL. I remember right after coming out of recovery and getting "situated" in my room............the nurse put a pad on for me, with all the ointments and watched me pee into that plastic container in the toilet. She then showed me how to use the water bottle to "cleanse" myself by spraying it into my hoo ha!!
