Re: hair straightening
My OB said to write a letter to the company that makes the products and ask them if there is any reason why a pregnant woman can't use it.
Basically - get them to tell you, in writing, that it's harmless for a pregnant woman. Which we all know would never happen because I'm sure they don't test these products on pregnant women.
So - in short - no. It's probably fine, like dying your hair, but I personally decided not to risk it. Blow drying my roots hasn't been that bad.

Re: hair straightening
If you're doing one of those Japanese or Brazillian straightening techniques I'd say no - Color is different, it's been around for years and has evolved and been tested etc etc etc - The straightening thing is fairly new, has specific direct contact w/ your scalp - and has been known to contain formaldihyde (sp?) ......... I would personally stay away

Re: hair straightening
If it is Brazilian, you cannot do it. There is a small amount of formaldehyde in the formula.
