Does anyone take Ambien?

Ive always been a night owl. Staying up way past when I should have gone to bed...

Im trying to change my sleeping habits. My GP suggested that I should consider Ambien to get into a good sleep pattern....

Im concerned that Im going to be sluggish and tired the next day. (which is how I am any way with too little sleep )

Just wanted to know what others experiences have been with Ambien.

I took it once when I was in the hospital. It made me have hallucinations, and I only slept for an hour or two using it. I do much better with Nyquil.

I actually took it last night for the first time - I had hallucinations before I went to sleep and then once i feel asleep, i unfortunately didn't sleep through the night. I know everyone raves about the extended release so you sleep through the night, but as far as I know, they don't have a generic and it's expensive, even with insurance.

I take melatonin- it's what naturally makes you fall asleep - maybe try that

Have you tried Benedryl? Many psychiatrists prescribe this to their patients for sleep disorders, especially ones with addictive behaviors b/c it is not habit forming.

OMG - I would have freaked!!! No - I had a pile of clothes near me and they were moving - I was strangely enthralled by it!

OMG - I would have freaked!!! No - I had a pile of clothes near me and they were moving - I was strangely enthralled by it!

OMG!!! they gave it to me in the hospital while i was preggers and on bedrest! i still couldnt sleep. and yes i sooooo had hallucinations! soooo freaky! and yes the clothes moved on me too!!

I took it once when I was in the hospital getting induced. My Dr gave it to me to relax and sleep while we were waiting for the Cervadil to work overnight. Best night sleep I ever had I don't remember a blessed thing and slept like a log. I have an older aunt who was taking it and had some really bad hallucinating and sleep walking. One night her daughter found her putting on her coat completely naked ready to walk out of the house

I was prescribed Ambien to take at home for the first 2 weeks of my recovery after back surgery. I had home health aids around the clock. One night at 3am I woke up screaming and freaking out. I almost gave that nurse a heart attack!

I never took it again! LOL

I think I scarred her for life! She was afraid of me after that.

I took it for a month or so years ago.... I didn't have any hallucinations or anything like that, but, I did make sure that I was blocking off a solid 8 hours of sleep just to make sure that I didn't have any after effects, KWIM?

i had about a 2 weeks supply after my surgery and i have to say taking it was probally the best, most restful sleep i ever had. I woke up without feeling that hazy head feel with nyquil or benedryl. No wonder the docs gave me only 2 weeks supply

I took it for awhile and did not do too well on it. I had hallucinations, I cried a lot after I would take it, and I would walk around in my sleep...it was terrible. If I cant sleep, I take a Xanax or Nyquil.

i was on ambien for quite awhile maybe about a year or so ago. i took it in the lowest dosage (i think i even cut that in half but i honestly don't completely remember) and i slept like a baby on it. i never had the problems with hallucinations but i also took it right before i went to sleep. i never felt sluggish in the morning from it. good luck! i hope you get a good night's sleep soon!
