Feeling really down
I had my third m/c last month and it seems it's taking me alot longer to move on. I am ok during the day but when it's time to go to bed my mind races. Every Thursday I am off from work and I sit home torturing myself by watching A Baby Story and I cry during every episode. I also found out that I have the MTHFR mutation (homozygous) and I now feel like everytime I do get pregnant I will miscarry. How many more m/c's can I go through before I say enough is enough. Yet, I can't imagine not being pregnant. Wierd huh? My doctor put me on a baby aspirin but I've been doing some research and it seems I should be taking a folic acid supplement and possibly seeing a hematologist..yet he never said any of that to me. I know I should probably call him, but part of me says he knows better than I do. I also have to have an HSG done which I am totally freaking about but I need AF to show so that I can schedule it. It's so frustrating because I'm pretty sure I ovulated 2 1/2 weeks ago and still nothing. I also can't help but get angry when I see young unmarried teenagers get pregnant. Why is it so easy for them? I hate feeling that way. Mind you, since I had the last m/c DH's sister, grandparents, aunts and uncles have yet to call to see how I/we are doing. Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive. How do you ever get over the fear of being pregnant again when you've had multiple m/c's? Sorry so long.

I can't comment on the m/c but I wanted to send you lots of It is very hard to see unwanted pregnancies when you want one so badly. Dont be upset at yourself, you are entitled to feeling this way. I do think you should have a conversation with your doctor about this.

Colleen, I am so sorry for your loss...
I too am homozygous MTHFR. I take baby aspirin and folgard. This is a TREATABLE condition. Many women have this and go on to have healthy babies.
I would absolutely go to a hematologist for a consult and further testing!!! Shame on your Dr for not suggesting it!

Re: Feeling really down
Colleen, I believe you should make an appointment with Dr. Scher. He is located in Manhattan. He wrote the book, Preventing Miscarriage, The Good News. If you feel more comfortable seeing a hematologist. I have the number for one who specializes in miscarriages. However, basically Dr. Scher will test you for the same things and his treatments go beyond the hematologist. Dr. Scher dedicates his practice to preventing miscarriage and helping embryos implant.
He will help you, keep your next pregnancy... !
Baby asprin is just a small part of treating this.
As far as moving on from the miscarriage...you will, but you will never forget. It's one of the hardest things to go through because unless someone has gone through it, they have no idea the amount of heartache and grief it causes.

Re: Feeling really down
Colleen, I will second Dr Scher. I just went to see him about my immune issues and couldn't have been more impressed.

Re: Feeling really down
First, I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you miscarried. It is a very emotional and devasating experience, and everyone "rebounds" from it differently and in their own time. I made the mistake of comparing myself to others when I last miscarried. I couldn't understand why I was having such a hard time moving on, I was truly lost. Everyone tells you how they or someone they know miscarried and went on to have healthy children, but I know that hearing that didn't help me, it made me feel more like a failure. I think that we have similar issues. I have miscarried multiple times and have a blood disorder(blood clothing) I am in the process of seeing a specialist and I take prenatal vit., asprin, and px folgard (folic acid) everyday to increase my odds. I too have to go for a HSG test the first week of March. If I could be of any help just let me know. My thoughts are with you

Re: Feeling really down
I just wanted to tell you that doctors are NOT Gods. You have every right to find a new doctor or get a second or third opinion about what is going on with your body. I am sure that all of your information can't be wrong so maybe it is time for you to talk to some other doctors. Good Luck!!!! I am so sorry that you are going thru this
