Re: Deep breaths......
"Only " 50 %......But "only" 2 months ago- horseback riding was the new thing and we had to buy rather expensive riding boots and helmet for that....she stopped going and decided to start skating again ( or BM, decided she wanted to skate again- who knows ) ...
And the last pair of skates was "only" $480.00....I guess they get more expensive the bigger they are
Never in a gazillion, trillion years would I put DS or DD into something that required such expensive gear, never never never...But thats me ...
( unless of course maybe I got a really good scratch-off at 7-11, then maybe )

Isn't there, or rather "shouldn't"there be a cap to such stuff? You have to give into every whim? At any price? What if she needs to buy gear to climb Mt Everest next week.. you pay 50/50..no discussion? I'm a BM & I would never pull such ****%

Though the judege was very fair to my DH the last court session, when he asked for a cap, the judge replied that he should have thought of that when the paperwork was written and his request was denied ...It's crazy because the BM lives vicariously through my SD...I'm all for exra-curricular activities, but theres no end with this woman !

Re: Deep breaths......
Does your DH have to agree to all extra-curricular activites before hand?
It is so unfair of her, especially in this economy, to expect you guys to pay for things like this out of the blue.

BM does not "have to'" ask his opinion before enrolling her in anything. Joint custody applies towards health related decisions primarily from what I've learned.....So basically when it comes to things like this, he is an open check-book because his old lawyer ( who was horrible) didnt dot his I's and cross the t's

A little payback might be in order...

The magistrate ? Bueato ( Riverhead)...
And although I blame the lawyer, to a degree its my DH's fault...he let BM draw up the ppwk. ( yes, BM- not BM's laywer !) DH assumed most things were " standard" - BM basically copied her agreement with her ex husband....DH hired his attorney to review it - The attorney said, it looks fine and that it could always be changed down the line - YEAH right !

He has a right to say how his money is being spent...or rather that is what Ive always been told...now I could understand if she was only in 1 activity and he said he could afford it..but that many?
My DH has my stepdaughter going to private kindergarten..b/c that is what worked for the ex.. Never mind that we cant afford it.. Never mind that all the rest of the kids go to public school...NEVER MIND that she moved there b/c the school district was so WONDERFUL
My girls would LOVE to take horsback riding..but we cant afford it....and I know their father cant either...

Re: Deep breaths......
Can I hire you to be my SD 's BM ??? Than we can send both ex's to some far away island and they can ice-skate, horse-back ride and go to private kindergarten together ( because it sounds like they both could use it ! )
But on a more serious note, at least according to my DH's court sessions , BM has the upper-hand in the decisoon making, based on SD's residence alone...For instance, after my DS was born, I offered to watch SD for the summer so she wouldnt have to be placed in childcare...BM refused ( even though we offered to p/u and drop off etc...) and the fact that I am a state licensed daycare provider....According to the judge as she looked at BM shaking her head , said " Although it would be in both parties best financial interest to have SM ( me) care for SD, the courts cannot force the BM to place her with me if she chooses not to" ....The judge never looked at her the same after that ( BM took DH there for more $, then turns down free childcare )...So although BM won the battle, she lost the war in the long run ( that coupled with all the other zany requests she's made and hiding income)...but for whatever reason, the courts were steadfast on this dumb extra-curricular cap thing ...I guess with most " normal, reasonable' parents, this is not an issue...Now she takes it and runs with it, even if it puts herself in the poor-house, basically " just because " she can- KWIM ???

I think they need to just drop of the face of the earth if you ask me...
I seriously wonder if these "people" ever question what they are teaching their children!!!!!
