Fortunoff refuses to honor gift cards
For anyone out there that has a Fortunoff gift card, they are no longer accepting them because of there bankruptcy filing.
This is a bunch of cr@p!!! Many stores have filed for bankruptcy and still honored there gift cards. I will be telling all friends and family to stay away from Fortunoffs.

i used mine about 2 weeks ago when i found out they were closing their doors soon
i didnt want to take a chance, this has been in the news for a while now
I remember when sharper image went out they stopped taking gift cards as well

It is terrible. It's like stealing!!
They should give you a cut-off at least. Like, use your card before March 1st or it will be forfeited. No notice is just wrong!

So did I. The writing has been on the wall about this for a while so I didn't take any chances and used mine last week.
ETA: Last week when people were posting that Fortunoffs stopped taking their own credit card, I figured something had to be up.

I will let you know though.
I ordered stuff Thursday and Friday of last week. I have received one thing so far. And I keep receiving emails that the other things I have ordered have been shipped.
I used my GC and about $16 on my debit card.
But I looked at my checking account today and have a credit of $66
So we will see...

where did you enter the gift card info when doing an on-line purchase? I'm trying to see if I can use mine and don't really see the opportunity to input the info. The only thing I did see was a place to put coupon code info

I can't feel bad for these people though. If you knew (and it's been pretty common knowledge that they have been in trouble for awhile) that the place was going under, why would you hang onto the cards?? Use em or lose em! Use due diligence. I think in this economy it's foolish to "hang onto" gift cards, etc. Every business is being affected and corporate decisions happen moment to moment. With a ton of layoffs that Fortunoff is facing, I'm sure their 1st concern wasn't that customer Mary Smith was holding onto a gift card for the last six months or so.

I held onto mine (bal of only $16) b/c I couldn't get over there.
I initially used my gift card to buy bathroom accessories and now they're not in-stock. I hope I can get my money back for that - even if it's an exchange b/c that's theft, plain and simple.

Me too, I was actually with DH and I said we really should use it because you never know what is going to happen.
I am not surprised I felt like it was obvious it was only a matter of time for htis to happen!

The dumb thing about is that most people who have lower amounts on their card will most likely spend more $.
I have card for $16 and change...
There isn't anything really there that I want for $16.00 but what I want is more $$. That makes them more $ - such a stupid policy.

Ok - found out that since three of the five items I ordered last week were out of stock, since I paid for it with my GC and went over the amount of the GC, I paid with my debit card. Since it was out of stock and can't give me a GC back, they credited my checking account - woooohoooo!

i agree - this is crap! they already GOT the $$ for their gift cards - the card itself is just to show that someone already PAID them for what you want to get. such bullsh!t.
