For a few hundred less than what I'm making now - I'd take the job.

My mental health is worth more than a few hundred anyway so I'd look at it as a lateral move on paper.

If you think you'd be much, much happier - make the move. Especially if there is room for growth which it sounds like there is!

ITA! Happiness is much more important than money, and if the differntial isnt that big I am sure you can make tiny adjustments in your spending to fix the curve. Is there any other monetary benefits? Maybe you will be saving on commuting? health insurance? lunch?

See that was the problem. I would be giving up a ton of perks (as of next year I'll have six weeks vacation, the ability to work from home, etc.). They still wouldn't budge with their offer and kept offering me crumb increments. It wasn't worth it to me and the process was making me feel jipped; like THEY didn't think I was worth it. I kind of looked at the overall situation and realized that right now is probably not the best time to look for a job. Granted, the job SUCKS but I do have flexibility to leave when Amber is sick, etc. Something I would not have at the other place. I think I need to get an emotional lobotomy so I don't care what happens here or rethink my emotions and start taking what I can from here and using it to my advantage. Between the wedding, a potential surgical procedure on my arm, the possibility of my Dad having his legs amputated, etc. it's no wonder I'm completely stressed out..

The surgery and your dad are situations that are out of your control - so take comfort in that and try not to stress about it. There's nothing that YOU can do so why make yourself sick worrying about it? Chat Icon

Why does work suck so much? Is it because you're overwhelmed? Does that give you the anxiety?

What a tough decision!! I think that with jsut a little lower pay I would do it... but be sure that they know you'll need the time off for your wedding. Did you talk to them about the flex of getting your daughter when you need to? Good luck!

The company has gone through internal reorganizations that don't necessarily make sense on a business level. The company wide motto nowadays appears to be "You do it" or "It's your fault". There is no accountability for anything (except for those that actually care; like I do). I know things change but it's the entire breakdown of support from Management to the unbelievable requests/behavior of our clients that makes coming here a daily misery. If anyone has seen "Office Space", yeah, that's me. Peter and the G-D TPS Report!!
