I always back into my driveway, so the front of my car would be opposite of yours...

we use the terms beginning and end.
End of the driveway meaning where it meets the street.
I would think beginning would be at the street, where you BEGIN to drive down towards your house when you END up. (park)

I agree with you that *THE* front of the driveway is by the house, but *IN* front of the driveway to me means park your car in the street at the end of the driveway.
ETA: I just reread your question. Your DH said "in THE front", not just "IN front", so yeah I am with you. The front is by the house, the end is by the street.

true... i would say the street is the END of the driveway!
I agree! Front of the driveway to me, would mean as far forward as the car could go, close to the house.

I also always grew up saying that the part closest to the street was the end of the driveway because when we'd go out to ride our bikes, my dad would park his car at the end of the driveway so we had room to play infront of it on the driveway.

Well, sometimes when I'm swinging by to pick something up, the person will tell me "I'll meet you at the end of the driveway and give it to you" That would be the end, back, etc - the front would be closest to the house!

I have a circular driveway and no garage..... 
I guess I have two "fronts" and two "ends".... 
The front is at the street.....

IMO the front of the driveway = where the driveway and the street meet (start of the driveway). top of the driveway (well at least in my case as i live on a hill) = near garage or house.
