Cost of IVF Meds?? $4000?!?!?

Hi, I have UFT (medco) for perscription insurance and I just got off the phone with the pharmacy and as of right now they cant tell me what is and is not covered...but she quoted me almost 4000!!!! (worst case scenario) I am hoping that my insurance will cover MOST of it...does anyone have that insurance? I work for NYCDOE...just wondering because they told me most likely wont here back from them until the day before shipping and the hubby is FREAKING out to say the least...if anyone has any idea please let me know.

I have medco as well through my company. go to their site, www.medco.com

you can look up the drugs and see whats covered and what your potential copay may be.

If they're name brand only i believe the copays may be high..anywhere from $40-$80 ore more. I once paid $80 for a new psorisasis cream that had no generic. a little tube was over $400 retail

and if you can do medco by mail, its a lot cheaper.

my copay was $215

eta i dont know the retail price of it all cause my paperwork doesnt say
eta also i did give them my ghi info and it was mail order so perhaps that is why it cost so little

Yeah, that could be right. I think last cycle my meds were over $7K retail (though I had insurance then and I think my copays were around $400).

I have medco and my last cycle I paid between 4-5K out of pocket for my meds. They didn't cover anything.

It depends more on your actual insurance I think than your prescription carrier. I have Medco as well but they covered my stuff at 100%, just had to pay about $120 in copays.

I have Screen actors guild Medco and they covered squat.. See if you can get donations from people w/left overs .. Thats what I did.. This board of women are just so giving and generous, you will be amazed..

I have medco for prescription as well, and they don’t cover fertility medication. However, my fertility meds are covered under my “medical benefit”, and can only be ordered from a specific mail-order pharmacy.

Well I did give my medical insurance info...so maybe that will help some...based on what some of you are saying im not sure it will matter! Thanks for the info! I appreciate it.
