Re: Any August Moms??
I am due 8/30 , and I hear it all the time ,it's rather annoying at this point. Yes it will be hot, but unless you work outside , everything has air conditioning and I do not take the train to work ( I drive) , I will survive and so will you! I wear dresses in the summer anyway, and my hair will be back everyday to keep cool.
I am so tired already of people saying that , among all the other lame advice or telling me what I can or can't do . Also these people should please keep their negativity to themselves!!!!!!!!!! I am just so happy to be pregnant , that I could care less that it is summer.

Some people just don't know how to respond appropriately to things ! A simple congratulations is all that's needed , especially with people you are not close with . I have a lot of that from co- workers who I am not close with at all.

Re: Any August Moms??
I am due 8/26 & I do hear it a lot. The only thing I am truly worried about is my office. The AC here is not really optimal working, but I have the ability to work from home. So if I am uncomfy, I do plan on staying home in the CAC. My boss already knows, it will be dresses & flip flops from June on. But I am sure I will be ok! I think it will be mind over matter....

Re: Any August Moms??
I'm due 8/4 and I live in NC, so its already pretty warm down here! Honestly though, they invented a/c and fans for a reason AND in the summer you can always go to the pool and beach
I'm not worried at all -- you can always cool down with a nice cold virgin pina colada

Re: Any August Moms??
I am due 8/12 and I have been getting that alot too!! The way i looks at it is when my feet are swollen and big, i won't have to squeeze them into fall or winter shoes, i can just slip on my comfy little thong sandals with my capris and be on myway. I would think it would be easier to be pregnant in the summer than in the winter. Im looking forward to it but people telling my how miserable i will be is getting really old.

Re: Any August Moms??
Yeah, I get that too. I plan to live in sundresses & flip-flops, and sit in front of the AC all day. I'm not really worried. I truly despise the cold weather and PG or not, I'll take the heat over it any day.

Re: Any August Moms??
One thing I learned, is that people will FIND something negative to say. From the baby's sex (if you are having a girl they'll tell you how hard girls are to raise as teens and how disappointed your husband must be and if a boy they'll tell you some horror story about boys and how they'll never call when they get married) to not finding out the sex (how can you not find out??? Don't you want to know?); how close your kids are in age (I get crap all the time about how "crazy" I am) to you waited so long (I've heard other women get told this when there's more than a 5 yr age difference)?; at the end you get the "sure you don't have twins in there?". List goes on.
My DD was out by May last year so I am a little concerned about the heat, but honestly, at least one thing about warm weather babies... when your child is born you can take the baby outdoors. You can't do that the same way if the baby is born in February. I used to at least sit outside with DD last summer when I was still recovering from my c-s and couldn't go for walks, as soon as I could I got that stroller out. I'd go stir crazy personally and purposely do try to avoid winter births for that reason - but that's just me. Honestly, last year I found ice more of a concern than heat will ever be and I'm outside a lot. In fact, one thing about pg in the winter was that I'd dress warm for outside and BOIL inside to a point that made me sick. It's never perfect, just dress accordingly and stay hydrated.

Re: Any August Moms??
I was just talking to DH about this - this morning as I was putting on my boots for close to the last time....
I always thought that if I could plan it I would want to be at the end of my pregnancy in the cold winter months - but looking at it now - I am thankful that I won't be.
Flip flops and sundress - and of course the AC.....
we will make it through ladies - with plenty of italian ices

Yes, I get it a lot. I go right along with them and tell them I'll be waddling around with swollen shrek feet.
No matter what month I have the baby, people will always find something negative to say.

Re: Any August Moms??
I'm due 8/28, however I tell everyone "labor day weekend". All Iplan on doing is floating in the pool everyday, so I'm not to worried about the heat. It is amazing me more and more each time how people don't think before they speak.

Re: Any August Moms??
I am due August 23 and everyone has something to say about being pregnant during the summer. What can you do but dress appropriate and stay cool! I plan on being in the water and AC as much as possible. I am more concerned about the bloat factor for the summer with the heat but again nothing you can do about it
