Baptism question
DH is driving me crazy, that's a whole nother story.
Background: DS's middle name is my last name. DS's last name is DH's last name. DH was fine with this.
Now that the baptism is coming up and we're doing the cake DH is insisting that the cake say "God Bless first, middle, and last name". All b/c he doesn't want his family to think that DS's last name is my last name.
Now, during the church, doesn't the priest ask what the child's given name is and the response is supposed to be DS's first and middle name only?
Help me out, ladies. Please!!! The baptism is this weekend!
TIA!

Re: Baptism question
When the priest asks the child's name I would just say his first name.
I kinda understand your DH's thoughts on this. For the cake I say either just put the first name or put the WHOLE name.

Re: Baptism question
Put the baby's first name on the cake only, that solves that.
As for what the preist asks, I don't know, but you can say the entire name if you'd like I'm sure.

Re: Baptism question
When the priest asked us for her name I just gave her first name. Same for the cake. I think it would be weird to put her last name on the cake. First name only will solve the problem. Have a great day at the baptism!

Re: Baptism question
Our sons middle name is my maiden name. We had it on the cake. It's his middle name. I think your husband is over reacting. If someone asks you tell them. No biggie!

Re: Baptism question
regarding the name on the cake, i would assume anyone at the Christening would be close enough to you that they would know the baby's full name and there wouldnt be an confustion!

Agree. My sons each have 2 middle names the second of which is my maiden name. Everyone who came to the baptism was a friend or family member and they knew the deal.. and if they didn't they obviously weren't important enough for us to care about their opinion!
Our priest used their full names and on the cake we only had the first name.
