average mortgage rate
we just did all the paper work with our mortgage broker & our rate is going to be 5%
I know that's good compared to how it's been but I thought it would be even lower because my credit score is 779.
if any one bought a house recently, can you tell me what rate you got - thanks !

DH and I just locked in on monday with Wells on an FHA loan at 4.75 (with a point)
Our scores are both around 760-780 each

thats more like i was expecting, every little bit less helps.
we doing a VA loan so I'm thinking that may be why it's higher.

I'm not to familiar with VA loans...but it could be part of the reason. I do know that FHA and VA rates don't fluctuate as much as conventional.
ETA: I'm pretty sure conventional rates with Wells is 4.625 right now (also with a point)

Teachers FCU today is 4.5% with no points and 5% down for a 30 year fixed.

I'm doing a FHA 203K Rehab Loan (a PIA Refinance that is based on the "after construction" appraisal amount). This loan tends to have a higher interest rate but I locked in a 4.875 with NO points!!!! My mid score credit is about 770. Yours seems a bit high. Check to see if the bank is charging any points on the back end.

We're with TFCU. Yesterday they were 4.5, today it is 4.675. They seemed to be the lowest. Our credit scores were both over 800.

Depending on the size of your mortgage, you should definitely consider refinancing.

We locked in 4.375% for a refinance with 1 point. We're using Wells Fargo.

We have a VA loan through Wells Fargo. We closed last Nov with 5.5% with credit scores of over 790 and even 800!

mother effer .. we closed last june before interest rates dropped majorly. we are already looking into refinancing, could save us $400 a month!
we are at 6% now  both with great credit

Today, I was quoted 5.25% for a JUMBO conforming loan (amount b/t 417-729k), which I think is a REALLY good rate for a jumbo loan!

BFCU for 4.875 with 1/2 point (due to value to loan ratio).
Just want to add that when we bout 1 1/2 ago we got a rate of 6.5% for I'm happy to get a rate like this. Totally worth the closing costs.
