When can the doctor determine the sex?
how far along do you have to be for it to be detected in an u/s?

I found out with my dd at 16w,6days
I think anywhere after 16 weeks but most doctors wait until 18-20 weeks

I had my 12 wk appt this past monday and the sono tech did not mention sex at all, even when she was taking pictures of that area...a doctor came in after and immediately after looking at that area said have you guys talked about finding out the sex yet? She said baby looks  but I am waiting for the level 2 I have scheduled at 19w3d to confirm...sono tech said they don't really like to say so early b/c a girl can be swollen at that time.

I found out at 16 weeks and it was confirmed for definite a 18 wks.

i was told anything after 14 wks is safe.
We were told boy at 15w 3d, and confirmed at 20wk level 2.

don't believe it!!
i was told at 12 weeks and even have pictures of what DEFINITELY looks like a boy part...
went back at 20 weeks and, lo and behold, it's gone! i'm actually having a  !

agreed- but i was the opposite!
I was told "most likely girl"... 3 weeks later, he was ALL BOY!

at the 12 week ultra screen- baby was cooperating... she said pretty sure boy- then she gets another angle- and shes like 99.9% sure...
it was confirmed at the level 2...
it depends on how the baby cooperates and how good the tech is

it depends on how the baby cooperates and how good the tech is
many techs will not even venture a guess at that stage...mine wouldn't...it really depends on where you go

completely agree. my tech REFUSED at our 16 week sono....even though i BEGGED.. He said no way until 20 weeks.
