BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
I will be having a scheduled c-section with baby #2. How was your second recovery? I had a pretty easy recovery with dd. How did you take care of a toddler while recovering from the section?
Any advice, experience would be appreciated
TIA

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
i was hoping my second recovery would be easier because i was in "better shape" running after a toddler, BUT no such luck...
i remember with DD#1 going home from the hospital feeling a lot better than i did with DD#2. the night before i was discharged with DD#2 i panicked a bit because i didn't feel physically up to it. my OB said she had to get creative with putting me "back together" though, because apparently my ab muscles had worked their way to my sides and were completely thinned out (she said it she sees this a lot with people who carry twins). so the surgery itself was more intense. luckily i had TONS of help from DH and family the first month.
i say it took my 2-3 weeks to feel better with DD#1, 4-5 with DD#2. this is purely physically. mentally since i knew what i was in for i felt fine and was able to tackle anything

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
It's tough. Real tough.
I had a horrible recovery with both. The second time it was worse for me because I was doing a lot of work around the house when I got home from the hospital. Taking care of a toddler is rough too. Hopefully you will have some help. I would say I was feeling better after about 2-3 weeks and back to my normal self at 1 month.

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
I have not had multiple c/s yet.
But my friend who did had a little more pain second time around. I think it was the BF making her uterus contract because she was getting much m ore cramping down there, but overall she wasnt in alot of pain.
My SIL had 2 good recoveries, second time she had 3 kids to take care of. She did need the pain killers more than with her first but that also could be that she was taking care of 3 kids instead of 2 as wth her first.

I've had 3 and with each I thought each recovery was progressivly easier. the surgeries were harder on me, #1 was EASY, #2 was hallucinating, #3 almost killed me, literally.

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
My friends who had there 2nd C's said there recovery was much better then there first, but that wasn't the case for me. I had more pain the 2nd time! When I had Julia I was up and walking around the hospital the next day with no problems, after I had Todd Jr I needed a nurse to help me stand up and I couldn't even walk 2 steps without wanting to sit back down, the pain was horrible! It did get better as the days went on, and by 2 weeks I was walking around with out any problems. Everyone is different so I wouldn't go by this.

ita. my first csection i was unprepared for. I didnt walk around right away and when i did the pain was unbearable. i had tears in my eyes. With my second. i was up and walking with NO problem the very next morning. lifting my baby with no problems. Heck i even drove myself to get my staples out 4 days later.

I have had 4 so far, I will be having a 5th and I'm scared about it now. As for the recovery my 2nd and 3rd was easier then the first, but my last was the worst.

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
My 2nd was just as easy if not better then the 1st!!!
My actual surgery was way better. I was calmer and it helped knowing what was happening.
My recovery was better in the hospital except I got really nauseas in the beg but they have a pill for that
And then when I came home I was doing everything. I will say I was feeling so good that I did overdue it and a week later I was hurting but that was my own fault.
It was soo good I can't wait for my 3rd

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
I had 2 c/s and the second one was easier. I knew what to expect which made it a heck of a lot easier and I was able to get around pretty good. the first few days in the hospital after the c/s were misery for me bc I had the gas buildup both times but once that passed, it was not so bad. When I brought my ds #2 home, I had a 3 1/2 yr old, a 22 month old, no kitchen counters and my DH went to Germany with his soccer team when the baby was 2 weeks old. (I know I'm superwoman LOL) But it was manageable. Take help from whoever will offer esp if they want to take your DS out for special outings. My niece & her friend did that with my 2 a couple times and I was so grateful.

Re: BTDt moms who have had multiple c-sections
Okay this thread is freaking me out b.c I'm scheduled for a repeat section in less than 6 weeks and DD is highly spirited and is throwing more and more tantrums lately and wants to be carried more recently too. The first one was hard I can only imagine what it will be like if this one is worse.
