PDD-Nos

Ds has undergone so many EI evaluations between the teacher, OT, Speech and Psychological. The psychologist said that he believed that my son had Pdd-Nos. They said that his speech is delayed and his communication skills. They also want him to work on his eye contact. Has anyone's DC been diagnosed with this? I am waiting to have a meting set up but until then I have been been searching on the internet.
Can anyone give me more information about it?
What services your child receives?
Have they improved?
Thank you

He will be OK. The diagnosis will not change the little boy you love. You are a great mommy and doing the best thing for him by having him evaluated and getting him therapy.

My son was diagnosed with PDD at 18 months. Since that time, he received a lot of therapy and attended school. Now, he is 4-1/2 and will be in an integrated class starting in September. He speaks, he plays, he is lovable and he is VERY smart (very high IQ).

My advice is to take it one day at a time, celebrate every advance he makes, love him with all of your heart and be patient.

I won't say it is an easy journey, but it is always an adventure.

Feel free to ask me or PM me any specific questions you may have.

Re: PDD-Nos

He will most likely get ABA therapies. It's very structured.

DS has austism and has had ABA for the past 3 months. It's amazing how much progress we have made in such little time. All his teachers are amazed by some of the progress.

For example, he went from not knowing how to play with toys appropriately to "master" wood puzzles and other color/shape matching toys for 2+ He is 22 months.

ETA: DS was approved for 10 sessions of 90 minutes per week. We started with 5 and slowly increased to 10. I want to ease him into the program.

Re: PDD-Nos

My daughter, who is almost 4, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS this past winter. She was also extremely speech delayed, some eye contact but not great and also has extremely low muscle tone throughout her body.
She's currently enrolled in a specialized Pre-K school where she receives ABA for 2 hours each day, PT 2 times per week, speech 3 times and OT once a week. Within 3 weeks in her school, she was moved from an inclusion classroom to an intergrated classroom. She's thriving and doing more and more each day!
Getting services and getting them early is key! Feel free to FM me if you need more info! I just went through this recently so I know how terrifying it can be!
