My first appointment is on Monday!
What should I expect? I will be 8 weeks
Im so nervous because other then a bunch of hpt's ive taken, I have had no real confirmation of my pregnancy and other then being extra tired and a bit more hungry then usual- for the most part I feel fine

Congratulations! This is what my obgyn does. Have you ever gone over your and DHs family medical history with your obgyn? He/she will ask about history re: genetic diseases, diabeties, pre-eclampsia, etc. Offer you the genetic testing blood panel. Ask you if you are taking prenatals and give you a scrip for some. Either give you a blood test there or a scrip for one. Give you a sonogram (internal wand to confirm pregnancy). Ask you when your last pap was done. If has been more than a year - may also give you a pap. You will pee in a cup and the nurse will check for protein and sugar in your urine. You will also have your weight checked and blood pressure taken. He/she will give you an estimated due date. I would ask about a scrip for a NT test (ultrasound and blood test) if he/she does not bring it up. This is the downs and trisomy 18 and 13 tests. If you want the genetic testing done, you will likely need to make a separate appointment for this test for 12 weeks.

At your first appt
-alot of blood work
-urine sample
-internal sono to confirm pregnancy and help determine a EDD
-discuss family history and Q&A session with your dr.

thanks girls!! Does DH come in the room with me? Im assuming right? Though Im not sure if i want him there if im getting a pap lol

he has come in for all apts inlcuding internal sonos.. with the exception of the day i had a pap. i made sure he didnt come for that visit!

DH does not have to be in the room while you have a pap done. As I said earlier though, the initial sonogram is an internal wand to detect pregnancy soooo....you can make up your mind about his being in the room when you are there.

they usually dont do the pap till after the 12 week mark (thats what my office does anyway) and they warn you before doing so.. i would have him go in and if they decide to do the pap ask him to step out.

thats a good idea! Thanks! I feel like its such a silly question but i really wasnt sure what I should do haha

no prob. i have tons of internal exams especially with all the complications ive been having and he always comes in for the visit and then just steps out when they go scuba diving!
