WOW... i feel sick after reading that blog. honestly, as a special education teacher, i am so sad. that was the sickest thing i have ever read. i am so sorry for those children to have a teacher like that. how in god's name do you call yourself a teacher and work with kidw like that and call them 'tards and make fun of them? they are our most vulnerable children... seriously... i am just and i pray that the children i know with autism and MR NEVER EVER have a teacher like that. that "teacher" should lose her license.

in regards to the OP: i hear your frustration...we've all been there. hang in there! sometimes we try to do soemthing fun and it gets thrown back in our faces. just take it as a learning opportunity to think about why it didn't work and what might work better next time. and trust me... we've all felt your frustration. i agree with snickers' post...well said.

This blog is why my old supervisor told me that she doesn't care what my kids learn, as long as they feel successful doing it. I can't imagine that those people who wrote on that website were actually special education teachers - why bother getting into the field.
I was sad to read that! I don't think what you said and what that blog was was even comparable! That was horrendous!

I see people on LIF in a plethora of different fields who call their coworkers, bosses, and those they manage, FARRRR worse names than calling a child a "brat," and we never once see anyone flaming them for being unprofessional.

I understand where the OP is coming from. I definitely make it my business to treat my students with the utmost respect, but EVERYONE has an off day. And if you can't post your frustrations to other teachers, where else can you let them out...??

I seriously can not believe how upset some people got over this post. Some teachers must work in the land of candy canes and gum drops. If brat is considered a bad word I can only imagine how people would react to others. I have to say I read her post like 20 times looking for the part where she called the child a brat to his face.. then I realized that never happened. At least I know never to vent on this board.
