complaint update from 5/28

My husband and I decided not to con't with Long island IVF because of the lack of service.

The majority of the staff(including nurses) had something negative to say or forgot what the patients needs like:

I had an appt, the receptionist said, "You are not in the system, why are you here?

"I only schedule surgeries and do not know what the girls upfront do ( meanwhile she fills in as the receptionist and patients are told that the upfront receptionists are a crucial part of your treatment)

"There have been a lot of complaints"

I need the antibiotics for the water sono test and reminded the nurse I need the meds she responded "oh, i did not give you the prescription with a puzzled face" Meanwhile it is crucial to take the antibiotic for this test

There was no nurse yesterday to speak with nor a doctor and the staff member said, "I know this is ANOTHER THING TO DISCOURAGE YOU"

i can add many more....

Ladies do your research!!!

Yesterday, I faxed a letter to discontinue treatment addressed to Dr. Steven Brenner at Long Island IVF. Can you beleive I have not heard from him yet. I believe that if a Doctor take a oath and swears to help a patient in his speciality do you think he would care to call!!!!

Today I met with Executive Director, Scott Williams, of Long Island IVF and express my concerns. He said he will investigate. I feel I should be compensated for my time, state of mind and money I have spent at this place. I await his response.

Wow good for you and your persistence. I feel like a chump for simply just stopping to go there. I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. Onward and upward!

Re: complaint update from 5/28

I don't have a sad story in regards to liivf. I just think that the blinders that my particular doctor had on and his lack of thinking outside the box wasn't what I needed. I had to talk HIM into changing the protocol, which turned out to be better for me. He was complacent and when time is of the essence for me, I had to move on. The amount of stress that I was put under over the years due to his over-cautious and conservative nature was more than I could handle anymore as well.

For example, after routine blood work, he called to tell me that one of my liver enzymes was elevated and that I should be evaluated by my primary care physician. He gave me no other information and scared the crap out of me. He didn't qualify it at all. He just knew it was high and that wasn't what it should be. When I spoke to my PCP, he said that that particular enzyme wasn't even used as a marker for anything anymore and that mine was slightly elevated, say it was 20. If it were in the 100s, we should have been concerned. In other words, it was insignificant. I spent a week under such stress that could have been avoided all because of my RE's tunnel-visioned caution.

I was a patient there for over 10 years (even before we were TTC) and have had many positive experiences there with other doctors and staff, but still, it was time for me to move on.

Finally Dr. Steven Brenner finally called me to apologize. It is unforturnate that I have experienced the incompetent of this office.

I have contacted my attorney to ask if I am warranted any due expenses.

Re: complaint update from 5/28

I am surprised you had such a negative experience with them. I have nothing but positive things to say. There were many times I had to go in on CD2 and it fell on a Monday, so I would just show up.
Any time I needed meds, I would have no problems getting them called in and/or delivered with no issues.
I have gotten PG with them twice...and truly love the staff at LI IVF...

But then again...I could go on and on with horror stories from RSofNY, so everyone has different experiences at different places.

I completely agree. I had an excellent experience there and was always treated very well.

I honestly don't think compensation is needed. If you weren't happy there, you should have moved on immediately as I and several other women have done at different practices.

I just wanted to add that I felt that I was always treated well and had a very positive experience at LI-IVF. That includes the receptionist, nurses and doctors. I did not find the nurses and other staff to be negative at all. I found them flexible with scheduling and any mix-ups I encountered were quickly cleared up. I was seen at both the Lake Success and Melville offices.

I'm also confused as to why you think you are entitled to compensation? In my opinion, that is a bit extreme and unnecessary. The way I see it, if you are unhappy there, just move on to another practice. I hope you find a practice you are happy with.

I too agree. I have had a very pleasant experience at LI-IVF
Dr. Brenner is my doctor and I also was treated by Dr. K ( for egg retrieval, transfer)

I have nothing but positive things to say about the whole practice Dr.brenner did everything possible for me, he even told me there are certain blood test that they do not believe in and he referred me to another place if I wanted to get them done, he said they were not necessary, he was right. He has gotten me pregnant every time- 2 times. I feel that he is very through and he did what he needed to do for me.

You just need to move on, it does not seem productive or healthy to dwell on this..........
Asking for and hearing other peoples "sad" experience at Li-ivf, doesn't change anything for you.

Best of luck to youChat Icon

I am sorry to hear about the negative experiences at LI IVF. Dr. Brenner was my RE for almost a year and I found him to be a very thorough and responsive doctor. He was receptive to working with me and the treatment plan I wanted to follow. I always found the LI IVF staff to be courteous and professional. I am a harsh critic when it comes to doctors and was never unhappy at LI IVF. I ended up pregnant on my first IVF attempt with a 5 day single embryo transfer. This protocol is done in less than 1% of their patients but Dr. B supported my wishes all the way.

I'm very sorry to hear that you have had some negative experiences from the professionals you entrusted to help you through this difficult time. It is extremely frustrating and annoying to have to deal with additional stress when you are already at your wit's end. I don't blame you for your feelings of resentment nor for looking for some sort of restitution. Your time is just as valuable as theirs and with the extremely sensitive issue of trust needed in infertility treatment you must be 110% confident in not only your doctor but the entire staff at the practice. Good luck on your pursuit of a new facility, I wish you well.

DITTO! I think the staff there are terrific and are responsive, compassionate and caring. Obviously everyone can have their own personal experience and opinions of a place.
I'm also not sure why you think you should be entitled to compensation????

Ladies, I am happy to read that many have had a good experience with Long Island IVF. My feeling on this situation is that I have given them to many chances to make up their foolish mistakes. I stayed because I believe in the goodness of people but how much do one tolerates.

It has been a long journey since 9/15/09 and do not want other woman to experience what I have experienced. Their structure must change and employee training is needed.

I have spent my valuable time plus at this place. Now I have to start over because of their incompetence. I do not dwell on things but strongly believe on what is right.

I am leaving this place because of them. I have spent a lot of money and my emotions, etc. before starting a cycle (thank goodness). My time is valuable.

Similar experience here. I was a much harder case and needed much more attention and diagnosis, which is why I left.

I don't think Dr. Brenner or Dr. Kenigsberg are bad doctors, per se...I do feel Dr. K's bedside manner could use a little work...and Dr. Brenner can be a bit less robotic, but other than that, I found the office to be alright.

I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience Chat Icon

First of all.......I have to say this - I'm not really sure why you feel the need to keep posting about your negative experiences with them. If you are truly unhappy then move on. Find another RE that may be able to work within your parameters.
But to keep complaining about the same thing...which noone else has experienced...and to expect financial compensation is just ridiculous IMO.
There are many people on this board who have gone to a particular RE and had to move on. There is no such thing as being compensated for your money and time afterwards. If the Drs. office doesn't work for you, then so be it. Find one who does. But tying up the courts and lawyers with frivolous suits is not the answer.
As far as finding more accomodating Drs. - good luck. You think you've wasted your time in six months? I spent a year with an RE, trying to get treatment that I needed or wanted and finally had to beg for my records and consult with other Drs. It then took me a couple months just to get opinons from various practices. This is a time consuming affair...

It's not always a perfect fit, and we can't expect to be perfectly happy all the time. I'm sorry your experience there was less than stellar, but if you want to move on then do so.
I truly hope you find the right RE for you and are successful in your quest to have a child.
