Holy shingles batman!
DH has it-Bad. Head and eye.
I just feel so bad for him. I've worked from home twice this week. The pain is unbearable. I don't know what to do for him.
Any one have any advice?
He's on all the meds and even went to the ER tuesday.
I'm also having anxiety about working from home but he can't drive. He has two doc appts today and I just couldn't leave him.
My heart is breaking for him.

I've had them and there is nothing can be done other than take the anti-viral meds and get lots of rest.
It's not fun.

It's terrible. I have to drag him out of bed now to take him to the eye doc. Then he sees the regular doc later since he spiked a 101 fever this morning.
I wish I could take away his pain.
Do you ever wish you could take 1/2 of the pain or all of it away even for just a little while to give someone a break? That's how I feel.

yeah, that's how I felt when my DH had kidney stones. I just cleaned the apt constantly, because I didn't know what else to do.
My dad had shingles & the meds really helped. Did they give him pain meds too, or just the anti-virals?
Shingles of the eye . . .

He is on percocet and anti virals and anti viral drops.
He has to take 2 every 3-4 hours to tolerate the pain but then he sleeps.
He's a mess. His eye is almost closed.
I'm a mess over this.

OMG, I'm so sorry. My MIL just had shingles recently. There isn't much you can do other than take the meds and wait it out. I'm so sorry - hope your DH feels better soon. Sounds like he has a great nurse.

Went to the eye doc and he gave him a steriod (medrol). It should start to help in 48 hours. His cornea is inflamed! Can you imagine!????

He's been sleeping. He hasn't eaten and of course he's not keeping the meds down.
Doc said that if he can eat and keep meds down he will have to be admitted.
Worst Week Ever.
He had half a bowl of soup with a few wontons and some gingerale and then fell asleep again. I'm going to make some plain buttered rice for him soon.
I know sleep is good for him but he needs nutrition so he can take the meds.
I'm very worried about him. I've never seen anyone this sick.

I had them years ago. I have to warn you the nerve pains that he will get in them could be on and off for years. Boy they hurt! And back when I had them there were no antivirals for them so hopefully his will heal soon.

wow Sue - I thought he was at least eating. poor guy
I wish I had some words of comfort. I don't know what to advise you - but you are wonderful wife and are taking excellent care of him. maybe he is sleeping so much b/c of the percocet. when my DH was on it, he was so loopy and slept a lot. he hated the feeling of being drugged that much. but when you're in pain, you just want it to end!
I for his SPEEDY recovery!!!!

Yay! Glad to hear. Those anti-virals are good stuff. I can't imagine all the people that had to go through it before they were around--I know they are relatively new.

He caught it in time. He got on them within 24 hours of the rash appearing.
he was on Valtrex.
He also got steroids from the eye doc. Once he was on the steroids he started turning the corner.
Friday was the darkest day.
He may actually go back to work Wednesday if he gets the all clear from both the eye doc and our regular doc.
If you get treatment fast it's so much better.
