Are jumperoos dangerous?
I've heard such great things about the jumperoo but recently heard it is bad for their leg development.

Re: Are jumperoos dangerous?
We had the kind that hung from the doorway and DS LOVED it. We put him in it all the time. We didnt leave him in it for more than like 10-15 minutes at a time. His legs are just fine.

Re: Are jumperoos dangerous?
I specifically asked this question to my ped (for both jumperoos and walkers)... mainly becuase DS was uninterested in exploring his environment on the floor, and needed to realize that he could go places by himself, and jump around.
the Ped said both are not good if a child is in it for hours a day. If it's only for 15 min or so, he saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. So, that's what we're doing.

Re: Are jumperoos dangerous?
My niece LOVED LOVED her's, my sister had her in it for no more than 15-20 mins. She would go nuts in it, a few weeks before I had Autumn during the March blizzard. I video taped her on my cell phone and I was laughing so hard.

Re: Are jumperoos dangerous?
Only if you leave them in there for hours. 10-20 minutes is good. It's because of their hips. We did not use it until DS was about 6 months. He could have used it at 5 months though.

Re: Are jumperoos dangerous?
I just asked my ped. She said it's fine. So what I do is no more than a 20 min session, maybe twice a day. Just watch their toes can get injured if they don't have socks on and it's hardwood. I learned that from experience.

Same here. It was one of the only saving graces we had when ds was 5-6 months old.

I've heard the same. DS was so behind developmentally I actually never bought one because the PT said it may hurt his development and give him bad habits. If kids don't have any issues, there shouldn't be any problem using it 15-20 min at a time.

A child being left in any toy/seat too long is not good when they are older and need more stimulation.
