Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
When I told my GYN that I was TTC she didn't say that I should take a Prenatal and my multi was good enough. Now that I am reading these boards I'm confused. Should I be taking them?

Re: Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
My dr. pretty much said the same thing. He said if I really wanted to switch from my multi to a prenatal I could, but he didn't force the issue. He just said to definitely be taking something with sufficient folic acid once I stopped the pill.

My dr. said the same thing either take a multi vitamin or prenatal it didn't matter as long as I was getting the folic acid.

I agree....and some multis are better than some prenatals!

Ditto! My OBGYN said some muti vitamins are just as good as prenatals,, so if I could save money by going with multi to do it. She recommended I compare the percentages.

Re: Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
When TTC and pregnant, it's VERY important to have enough Folic Acid (they recommend 800 mcgs per day). So it's really your choice to take a prenatal OR a multivitamin with 800 mcgs of Folic Acid (most have 400mcgs) OR a multivitamin and a Folic Acid supplement.
HTH.

Re: Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
I don't think it matters as long as you have enough Folic Acid. I opted to get the prenatals for now, but I don't see anything wrong with your multi vitamin. Just check to see how my FA you are taking and make sure it's around 800!

Re: Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
Right now I take a multi, it only has 400mg of folic acid. I am going to switch to pre-natals when I finish the bottle I have now. I feel the longer you take them before can't hurt. Also I have been trying to eat super foods, and am obsessed with antioxidants lol. Blueberries, Spinach, Beans, etc..

Re: Multi-Vitamin or Prenatal
Many women get pregnant without taking any types of vitamins or prenatals and go on to have healthy babies. I believe as long as you are taking something whether a multi-vitamin or prenatal you are already a step ahead.
