Scholastic News. I would probably get the first grade one unless they are extremely low, then go with K.

Hmm, is it possible to order both?

I'm a special ed teacher, but special or gen. ed, all the kids always have strengths in different areas.... the 1st grade one could be very appropriate for some, while others might not yet be ready Chat Icon

Perhaps call the company and see if you could order like 15 of each or something, depending on the size of your class! Good luck!

ETA: Not sure about which one- Weekly Reader or Scholastic would be better. I have seen them for the upper grades (I teach 7th) and I happen to like both! So, I'm no help in that area!

but TFK is a "2 grade" publication. my second graders have the 2nd/3rd reader and it is WAY too hard for them except for my absolute top readers! we never use it (we get it free) and i wish we could go back to scholastic news

I order Time for Kids and National Geographic. I know both have early literacy editions for K-1, come with large shared reading posters, and the articles are richer in content.

they also have a K-1 edition as well. perhaps that would work?

i usually use the 2-3 edition for my special ed. 5th graders and it works well. the 4th-5th edition is too hard for them.
