i teach 5th... I like that the Math is in May. I know others feel differently, but it actually gives us time to get through the curriculum without rushing. there is so much to cover by early March and i find i have to reteach after the test anyway, so i like that it's later.
ETA: time frame for the ELA and Social Studies for Grade 5 stayed the same.

I am so glad that the ELA will be in April- my school hyped up the tests for so long that the kids often felt that they could coast after January. And I am glad that we have more time to prepare.

I teach 4th. Selfishly I am glad that they are at the end of the year because I will be on maternity leave and was nervous about getting them ready for these tests.

I teach 5th and quite honestly, the only test I really would have wanted extra time to prepare for is the only one that stayed the same- Social Studies. I hate that it is so close to the beginning of the year. It is such a rush to get them ready!!

I'm a music teacher. . .and this is THE WORST POSSIBLE THING the state could have done. Our district concert performance calendar for the spring was finalized BEFORE these changes were made. Now, my students have to take a state exam the same days as their NYSSMA solo festival. . .AND I'M NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO PULL THEM OUT FOR REHEARSALS AT ALL. This is ridiculous. . .couldn't the state have given us MORE warning about this?
Sorry, but it really, really bothers me.
