I cry when i think about it. One family has to bury 3 of their kids. How do you go on. May they find that strength.

I agree...I asked DH how anyone can go on after having their 3 precious angels die in one day??? i cant even comprehend

I just cannot stop thinking about all of them. I feel like it's consuming me. How do you go on? How strong can a person be? I cannot imagine what that wake is going to be like..I just pray with all my heart they all get through it. I feel like I wish I could do something..anything...to make it just a bit easier. Same here. Today, again, I was sobbing. 2 weeks from now what do those parents do. They wake up in a completely empty house, where do you go from there. I can't even fathom it. Chat Icon

Deirdre I agree the prayer service was so sad. But always amazing to see how the people of Floral Park turn out to support their friends and neighbors.

I am not looking forward to the days ahead. The wake will be tomorrow at Daltons in Floral Park and the funeral mass is Thurs morning at 9:00 (I think) I will update when I hear.

FYI the wake/funeral will be for all 5 together.

Is it a private wake? Any updates on the son? I couldn't even sleep last night. At least the reporters went away a bit.

The wake is not private. The entire town is going - that's the kind of place Floral Park is.

I cant imagine what the poor parents are going through. When the priest mentioned "think of the parents when it's the holidays, when it's back to school time," I just lost it. How on earth do you keep going after this?

I am so sorry for their family and friends. What a horrible tragedy - just painful to even hear/read about, cannot even fathom what the family is going through right now.

I read somewhere that it looks like he's going to make it. But that's all I know.

For those that want to do something you could donate to the foundation. PM me for details if you want.

The wake is 2-5 and 7-9 at Daltons funeral home on Atlantic Ave in Floral Park. The funeral mass is at 10:30 at Our lady of victory in Floral Park on Thursday.

Re: Devastating Story - Please say some prayers

My heart breaks for the families.

The girls go to my kids school. Was at the pediatrician last night & he was their doctor. He was just devastated. He kept saying "how do you get over something like that." I know I couldn't.

Re: Devastating Story - Please say some prayers

i work with her. I have been too sad to come on. It is just inexplicable how someone can be here one day and gone the next. I was sad about the story having kids of my own but then the news was worse when I found out who it was. I am so sad for the family and most especially the father and son and the parents of the girls. My heart and prayers go out to all of them. Chat Icon

This story is too sad. I hope they can figure out how this happened. They found her cell phone at the Tappan Zee Bride pull off area - hopefully, this helps in the investigation - just a total tragedy.

Re: Devastating Story - Please say some prayers

I just looked at Newsday online and they are covering the funeral which was this morning and one of the pictures showed the five hearses pulling up the church - i just started crying. I don't know why i started reading/looking at the article b/c it is overwhelmingly sad. Prayers go out to this family on this heart wrenching day. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know. I can't stop thinking about this.
The horrendousness of the tragedy is only compounded by the mystery surronding it.
All these unanswered questions- Why was her cell phone discarded at the area she pulled over to call her brother? Did she throw it out the window after calling him? The fact that the autopsy showed no stroke or annuyerism or other brain issue that might have explained her confusion, etc.
They said on the news she told him she wasn't feeling well and was having vision problems- I would think stroke or something but the autopsy said no.
Was it some kind of migraine maybe? I know I have to pull over if driving when I get a migraine- the loss of vision, the confusion, all of it makes it very hard to drive. I've had some bad ones that I swore were strokes- that is how bad my confusion was while in the midst of it.

This whole thing is just so sad, scary, disturbing and devastating.
I will be thinking about this for a LONG time....

Re: Devastating Story - Please say some prayers

I went to the vigil, wake and funeral.

The site of thousands of people lined up in the pouring rain last night to pay their respects at the wake reminded me of the good in people and our ability to come together to support a family in need.

I stood outside the church at the funeral, as did hundreds of others. I think that we all felt the same need to show up, to try and show support for these families.

But at the funeral today, when I saw 5 hearses pull up at OLV, I was hit with the schock of it all again. 5 coffins. It's beyond the scope of human comprehension. It's too much loss for anyone to take.

The father gave a beautiful, touching euology and when he started to break down at the end -saying "cherish your children," everyone just started sobbing.

Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers. I dont know how you go on from this. Chat Icon

Me Too...

They also said that she was driving 1.7 miles on the road the wrong way and when she swerved across the lanes there were no braking signs. Which indicates to me something happened to her causing her to cut all 3 lanes.

Also it was said that 6 people called 911 and people were flashing her. SHe was unaware of those motorists and just kept going (at 45 mph).

This is a horrible horrible tragedy and some how I find comfort in the fact that she was ill but I can't help wonder why did she not stay put at the pull-off.

This tragic event has taught me a Great Lesson. There have been times I was exhausted and I 'just wanted to get home'. I won't hesitate to pull over now.
