What does your company do for Picnics / outings etc...
our company has been having the same old picnic at belmont racetrack. in the beginning it was great! now, it's completely redundant.
we have had ideas of going to a ball game but because of the difference in mets vs yankees fans is making people difficult.
looking for any ideas.
ps - we used to do just a regular picnic and play softball and stuff, but that got played out too...

The last time we had a real company picnic was 2003 and it was a pretty damn good one if I do say so myself (I headed the committee). Ever since then we just have one in the parking lot and the CEO cooks up burgers and hot dogs for everyone; it lasts 2 hours and then we all have to go back to work. We've talked about the same things as your company regarding baseball games or trips, but like you said there's always difficult people.

For outings I've been involved in a Ducks game, bowling at Dave & Busters, dinner (aka booze) cruise around manhattan, scavenger hunt at madame tusads (sp?) in the city, a culinary class, and just setting up in the parking lot with a bouncy for the kids, water fight, raffles, etc.

Same here at my old job we had them at Eisenhower Park then all of a sudden we started having them under a tent in the parking lot with the president cooking. We did suggest outings like a day trip to Great Adventure, baseball game, trip to the city and cruise around on a boat but got no response to that.

This was the last idea... i think it's a good one... do you know how it works? can we bbq there? how do we handle food and beer?

Our company outing for the past two years has been at a beach house in the Hamptons. A party bus leaves from the office at 10 or we can meet it at a pick up point on the LIE. At the house they have a band, a bar and food to pick at. While at the house we can swim, play tennis, go to the beach or go sailing. We have a lobster bake catered dinner and dessert. We leave at around 6.
I am so upset because I am going to miss it this year.
Before the beach day they did a day cruise around Manhattan.
My company does all of this for us in the summer and around the holidays we have an over the top dinner and people still complain. They would rather just go to work for the day  .
That is so nice of your company to try to set up a day out. If you go to a Met game just tell the Yankee fans to cheer when the Mets lose........as usual also tell them to never look a gift horse in the mouth!!!

Nothing really lately. We canceled our holiday party and everything else we do is self funded.
