Potty Training a 16 month old???

My dd has been showing signs that she wants to start potty training so some btdt moms convinced me to buy a potty and see if it works. She had been pulling off her diaper and going on the floor and letting us know when she was going in her diaper. In fact she would bring me a clean one when she wanted to get changed.

I wasn't planning on doing this to next summer actually, being that she is so young. This morning she went to sit in her bumbo (she still likes to watch tv in it) and I asked her if she wanted to try her potty. What do you know, she went! Then a couple of hours later she used it again and had a dry diaper all morning! She is soooo excited about this.

I have no clue how to continue... Do I buy her underwear or pull ups? What happens when we are in a store in public? Any tips or advice? Any suggested readings?

This has been a week for her, she has transitioned to sippy cups, finally sleeping through the night, down to 1 nap a day and now this! My little girl is growing up.

Not a BTDT mom, but wanted to say Congrats. I don't think 16 months is too young.

My niece is 18 months and showed signs of wanting to use the potty.

My sister doesn't put pressure on her, just encourages it. Anytime she goes on the potty, she gets to put pennies in her piggy bank, #2 = quarters, dimes, nickels.

She uses a fold up potty cover when she's out

She uses diapers overnight (pull ups suck and are hard to get on/off). She uses undies during the day. If she knows she is going to be out for a while and no potty close by - she uses diapers. My niece no longer likes diapers and hates to have it on. She's doing so good with the potty training!
