wet phone
my water bottle spilled in my bag and wet my phone. (amongst 3478928392893 other things that went wrong this morning)
Now my phone is broken.
I heard putting it and the battery in a bowl of rice helps...

Re: wet phone
I've heard that too. I've never done it though. I just took out the battery of the phone and let them air dry and it worked after that.

Re: wet phone
i tried that with DH's alarm & car keys that took a dive at the beach...they never recovered...but maybe because they fell in salt water? The rice is supposed to pull in moisture..i think it needs to be in a closed container? Good luck!

Thanks!
The phone wouldn't even turn on... it shut itself off.
we DO have insurance so I can always get a new one for $50.00 but I really would rather save the $50.00 and buy some new shoes or something...

Re: wet phone
Try a blow dryer - that's what someone told me the insurance companies do to phones that were turned in because of water damage.

Re: wet phone
Also one time my DH dropped his phone in the toilet (Luckily it was fresh water but still...) He just took it all apart and left it on our laundry/boiler room- it's always hot and dry in there- for a day or so. He popped it back together and it was fine.
So it's going to depend on the severity of the water damage I guess...

I can't imagine this would have ruined it. I caught it immediately so even though it was about 1/2 the bottle that spilled, it was saturated with it and however *wet* it got, it was not for long... My phone IS getting up there in age, and I've beat it up plenty..
I just think it's time

I've always heard NOT to use a blow dryer b/c the force of the air could break the chips or something...

Re: wet phone
I know someone on another message board that did this with an iPod that went through the laundry. She put it in a ziploc filled with rice in a warm spot. It took about a week but it works perfectly now - no loss of data or battery life. She tested it every 48 hours to check the progress.
good luck!

Re: wet phone
they had the rice thing on the TODAY show a couple weeks ago. Put it all in there, take it apart and cover with rice. It should absorb all the moisture.
