I'm going Friday and plan on asking then. I'm leaning towards not getting it. I've never gotten a flu shot in my life and don't think I should start now.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
My SIL just saw our doctor yesterday and she is 10 wks and he recommended that she get both H1N1 and regular flu. I will be seeing another Dr. in prcatice next week and will be asking him too. I'm due in ealy Nov. so am leaning not getting H1N1 but regular flu shot Yes I will get that after I deliver if OB/Ped says its ok while breastfeeding.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
I asked my OB and she recommends it, but she said it won't be available until mid-October/November and it could make a pregnant woman feel sick. I think I'll wait to see how others react to it b/f I decide whether to get it.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
I asked my midwife about it. Actually my husband goes to the school that is testing and researching the Swine Flu vaccine.
She told me that she feels it is too new and does not recommend it for me. I feel the same way, so I will not be getting it.
ETS: Dr. Sears came out and said to wait a few months and see what peoples reactions are before running out and getting the shot, and since I am due New Years Eve, and the shot is not coming out till November it is sort of a moot point for me. And I will not be receiving vaccines while breast feeding.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
I'm going to ask out of curiosity but, since I'm due in mid-December, I don't think I'm going to get it. There is too much uncertainty surrounding it still.
I will get the regular flu shot but, probably not until after the baby is born.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
I was told by ur doctor that of you are giving birth in the actual winter months...January, February, March...the vaccine is recommended.
Prior to those months, it is not recommended.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
i have an appt tonight so I will ask then. I really would rather not have it. I had a regular flu shot once in my life, about 4 years ago. I got so sick from it and then that whole year I just never felt 100%

Do you mind sharing why you won't get vaccines while BFing? I'm just curious if you've read anything that made you concerned about vaccines and BFing. Thanks.

Re: anyone talk to their doc about the H1N1 vaccine?
I get the flu shot every year as I have bad allergies- so can get sick easily. I am not due until April so as long as there is not a bad reaction to it, I will get it in December. I can't afford to take any sick days.
I know they are recommending pregnant women to get it.
