How did you store it?
My hall put it in a box but i wrapped it up with some saran wrap and froze it. I hope it doesnt taste "boxy" next year!

Re: Saving wedding cake
we put the box that the hall gave us in the freezer. they put in a plastic bag. it was edible - i liked it, but dh and i don't like cake much. so we tried and threw it out. friends of ours wrapped theirs in aluminum foil and it tasted great.

I would put it into one of those plastic containers or a freezer bag.

Re: Saving wedding cake
I didn't. We were going to but there is no room in our fridge. We ate some of it and then tossed the rest. We will get cake from the same place a year later.

Awww - how sad! Maybe you can get a mini version of your cake from the original bakery to celebrate your anniversary!

Re: Saving wedding cake
That's what my hall did...... boxed it, plastic wrapped it, and we froze it!
One year later..... it wasn't gourmet but we still enjoyed tasting it!

Re: Saving wedding cake
We put ours in a cardboard cake box. It tasted old with freezer burn, but good. I tasted much better than I thought it would.

Our hall wrapped it. It is in a box w/ saran wrap all around the outside of the box. Not sure if they saran wrapped the cake inside the box too? Hope so. Will tell you in January.

Re: Saving wedding cake
Silly question: It you had fresh flowers on your cake, did you leave them on or take them off? I froze mine in a tupperware container and left the flowers on, but now I'm thinking about using the foodsaver and I think maybe I should get rid of the flowers first. Thoughts?

Re: Saving wedding cake
i saved mine for the year in the box wrapped in plastic wrap and it was NASTY!!! find a better way to save it...maybe you want to borrow my foodsaver? my husband said to freeze it first and then use the foodsaver to suck all the air out...since yours isnt that old, you may still have a chance..good luck!
