gifted and talented?

my SD does not have one, but my principal wants me to try to start a G&T in disguise (to please the parents)

I'm going to pull out a few students at a time to do special projects. I really have no clue what to do with them that it will be fun. I would like to start out with a book club, but other than that, I have nothing.

any ideas or websites/resources that you use?

Re: gifted and talented?

I sadly can NOT offer you any help from a teaching stand point, but maybe I can help as a parent.

In our schools they do a math, science, technology component in the elem schools and then a focus on Russia in the middle school. In the elem schools they took trips to Cold Spring Harbor labs, got to do dissections (yep, 5th gr) and would get to do way more with computers (research, etc...) than they could in class.

In middle school they learned all about Russian life and culture and spent 3 years on the language.

When I was in G&T we did a whole unit on Greek Mythology. 25 years later, I still remember most of it.

I teach a g&t pullout. We study 2 in-depth topics per year (such as inventions, mysteries), and do some projects associated with those topics. We do brainteasers, and the Math Olympiads (a math contest). I love this website for their "brain games"

FM me if you want more info.
