Fiance is losing his job as of the 15th...his entire department is being eliminated due to outsourcing. Right before our wedding He's willing to travel anywhere...

This is part time, but I got this today.

Computer Technician

Part / Time position available

Schedule: up to 17 ½ hours per week, will include alternate Saturdays; some evening and afternoon hours.


Salary: $16.26 per hour

Typical Work Activities: monitor computer equipment to isolate possible mechanical causes of difficulties; provide elementary instruction to users in both group & individual settings; run diagnostic programs to ensure system is functioning correctly; recommend purchase of new computer equipment and supplies.

Qualifications: knowledge of principles and procedures of Windows systems; ability to isolate malfunctions and make corrections; strong communication skills; ability to follow oral and written instruction.

Education & Experience: Must meet Suffolk County Department of Civil Service requirements; high school graduate plus one year of technical computer training experience which includes monitoring, maintaining or repairing computer systems; additional education in a related computer science field may be substituted for up to six (6) months experience.

Try ca.com/careers.

Otherwise look to some of the smaller IT firms on Long Island like Fatwire or Falcon Stor.

Another great option is to have him take the Suffolk County Civil Service test. These jobs are secure once you're in. He can end up working at a number of places including Suffolk Community College or one of many school districts.
