? for DOE people - taking a leave of absence
I am a school psychologist who doesn't have a position...they want to send me to a horrendous school from a district that I was initially cut from. Not only is it a terrible school, it is a big hike from my house.
If I am forced to go there, I am thinking of taking a leave without pay but how do I do this?
I was on maternity leave from Feb to June but went back for a few weeks. Am I still allowed to take family leave? Do I need medical documentation? Anyone know how it works?
Thanks.

I am pretty sure you can take a childcare leave. You get up to five years per child.

I am pretty sure this is correct. I doubt you'd need any medical documents. The UFT site has lots of info about leaves.

Thanks!
I'm hoping I don't have to do that...but wanted to be prepared.

I just came back for a 6 year leave. I was told I have to return or resign when my youngest child turns 4 (which he did actually today). I would check with the UFT office as well. Orginally they told me five but then recently modified it to four years. I took 6 b/c I had two children in that time span.
