Updated Nov 11 2009 - Adoption Update - off to China
11/10 Update -
Early November is Here and our LOA is not. Turns out that our Travel mates r'cvd their LOAs on October 13th and we did not. CCAA (China) could not find a record of a check from 2006 for a fee paid - so our Agency had to find the cancelled check and fax it to them as proof to move our paperwork along. BUT...that was 10 days after we were notified that we did not get the LOA b/c our Agency facilitator went to Korea and it just sat on the desk/email until she returned. So as of today, we still have not r'cvd it - our travel mates are traveling to China either 12/2 or 12/9 and we will travel maybe in January....Until we get the LOA, we won't know the approximate travel schedule. I was so upset in October - my office gave me a baby shower already - I returned the Christmas dresses we bought thinking we'd be home for the holidays - one really has to take one day at a time - as we make our plans - life unfolds in ways we don't expect and then you return beautiful dresses to Macys (LOL - a bit of humor here) that were for the holidays. We have been keeping very busy - trying to purge the closets, etc...Nesting...... but as time goes on our little girl gets older and some days are harder than others. We sent a care package to her of clothes/toy/photo album of us and the dog - we hope she received them - oh I forgot to add that she is with a foster family - & her nickname is FuFu. Tomorrow we meet w/ the Adoption Pediatritian at Winthrop for a pre-tavel meeting - have to hang the window treatments in her room and find a rug.

On August 21st we got the CALL - about a 16 month old girl who is in the Hunan Province of China. She is really cute ! She has a heart murmur, but the Dr. at Winthrop said that it is small, and maybe small enough to close on its own. We were not expecting the call! We also r'cvd on Thursday, Sept 3rd our PreApproval from China...we still have to wait for our LOA and TA, and CA (letter of acceptance, travel arrangements and consulate appointment). We might travel as early at November - we'll be in China for 2 weeks. It is a very bittersweet time; my dad died on Friday and he and I never had the chance to talk about this, nor did he see her photo - which breaks my heart.
Her name will be Ava Belle; in her paperwork it said her favorite toy was a bell!  Image Attachment(s):

My niece and my SIL are both in China right now (not sure where but they will be there for the next 6- 8 months) - let me know if they can help in any way...

I am bawling my eyes out right now! I have been trying to email you since you told me the news but for some reason, I cannot send FM from my iPhone and I lost your email address. It was driving me crazy and I was praying you'd post with good news! I come on this site just for you! I am so, so, so excited for you! She is simply BEAUTIFUL and she is the same age as Summer! We must get together FREQUENTLY and let our little ones play! And as far as the heart murmur, I had a bad one, just went away now as an adult, and I am FINE! She was so meant to be in your family, SO worth the wait! I cannot WAIT for you to hold her in your arms, and just in time for the holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY!!!!!
ETA: I'm so, so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. God works in mysterious ways. Maybe he asked God to send her to you.

Congratulations. She is beautiful. I hope you love China as much as we did. We just had our 4 year "gotcha day" anniversary 9/13. If you have any questions, or need anything, let me know. The wait is hard, but it is SO worth it in the end.

Adoption is such journey...very much like pregnancy. You do not know exactly what will happen on what day and some days are easier than others. Hugs. I know this journey well and when YOUR baby is in YOUR arms much of this hurt and disappoint fades and you realize that this was the path to your daughter. Not perfect but your path.
