Meet the Teacher Night
Why bother!!! I give up my time, stay at school to about 7pm , arrange childcare, prepare sheets and for what? I had about 10 out of 28 parents show...after the kids have been writing it in teir HW for 2 weeks! It's so frustrating!

I'm sorry!!  at least you had the 10 that DID show up! Focus on that!!
The fact that even ONE showed up made all the planning worth it! Imagine if even one showed up and you had nothing prepared, OR wasn't even there in the first place!
Sorry, I know how frustrating that can be......

ITA with this.
We had our open house night last week. We had a TOTAL of 14 parents come...for the grade level. We have about 97 kids in 5th grade. We all squeezed into one room and did our open house presentations together

I totally agree....
I'm a traveling teacher, and I have 2 back to school nights....in the same week!!!!! One's tomorrow night and one's Thursday night.
And I KNOW no parents are going to come....

I agree. Our parents show up to socialize with each other. They don't even pay attention to what you are saying. Heck, some even answer their cell phones in the middle of it. I hate back to school night...I think it is a huge waste fo time.

10 of 28 is a great ratio... I have 250+ kids in my caseload, and if I meet 10 parents, it's a lot.

Thanks guys I just wish that some of my parents would get involved and on board....I hate carrying the burden all alone and in the NYC school where I work, I feel that is all I do. They think we are miracle workers and that education solely comes from the school......just one of those weeks I guess.....least there is U2 tomorrow!

we did ours during the day. it was so chaotic with all the kids in the room too. i had ten or so parents. (out of 25)
